So glad Cluesforum is back up. I’m waiting for the next outraged vicsim “family member” to either PUT UP or SHUT UP. In 13 years, it’s never happened so don’t hold your breath!

HTTrack is a free (GPL, libre/free software) and easy-to-use offline browser utility.

It allows you to download a World Wide Web site from the Internet to a local directory, building recursively all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files from the server to your computer. HTTrack arranges the original site’s relative link-structure. Simply open a page of the “mirrored” website in your browser, and you can browse the site from link to link, as if you were viewing it online. HTTrack can also update an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system.

I use this quite successfully and for many sites…best

Put a site on a browsable CD or other media

No problem. I’m surprised no-one else has thought about it. This COULD be the year cluesforum’s research breaks out, and you’ll have to have backups in place for the next outraged “family member”.

Yes – thanks a lot, Ab

Also – thanks to everyone here who have sent / or posted messages of support, concern and solidarity with our efforts to get Cluesforum safely back online. It feels good.
