“Bolillo”, the dog of the caravan of Honduran migrants
In Honduras, it was called “the Beast”, the name of the freight train on which migrants cling to cross Mexico. But this pitbull, which travels in the caravan of thousands of Hondurans towards the United States, was renamed these days “Bolillo”, named after a typical Mexican bread.
“Bolillo” is also the nickname given by some Mexicans to Americans, because white and “without much flavor”.
In recent days, the pitbull has just had to limit its diet to “bolillos” because these breads of wheat flour are also very cheap.
Like the migrants of this “caravan”, estimated by the UN to 7,000 people, the dog has traveled 800 km since 13 October.
He crossed the border swimming in the warm waters of the Suchiate river, near the boat on which his master, Adalberto Lopez, had taken his place. Monday, he climbed like him on a truck to save a few miles of walking on the exhausting road to the northern border of the country.
