Here’s how they’re supposedly measuring polar sea ice…
apparently the inner core was unavailable to “satellites”
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-13829785
Cryosat mission delivers first sea-ice map June 21 2011Professor [Duncan] Wingham presented Cryosat’s first ice map here at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, a major event in the space calendar.
[Interpreting the radar data] has involved calibrating the instrument and then validating its output by comparing it with independent assessments.
One such assessment employed a German Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) aeroplane.
It obtained thickness information by flying a laser altimeter to record the distance to the top of the ice and a conductivity sensor to identify the location of seawater on the underside of the floes. Being an aeroplane, it could only record limited lines of data, but these strongly correlated with the Cryosat observations.Oh…
So is there really a Cryosat “satellite”?Also at the same Le Bourget space jolly, this “satellite” map of Antarctica emerged:
Le Bourget, an elevation model of Antarctica, built from Cryosat data, was displayed.
Again, this covered just a couple of months early that year.
featuring two months’ “Cryosat” data from early in 2011 [perhaps Antarctic summer?]
Cryosat was given an initial mission plan to 2013, but engineers fully expect it to keep working until perhaps 2017. To pay for that extension, Esa will need to get new funding from Europe’s space ministers when they meet for their big conference in Italy next year.Dr Volker Liebig, the director of Earth observation at the agency, said Cryosat had already made a compelling case for the additional support – and perhaps for something even bigger down the line.
“Cryosat is a [one-off] science mission that is part of Esa’s Envelope Earth observation programme. I think it has the makings of a [on-going] operational mission,” he told the air show presentation.
“The need for this data will not stop when we retire this mission. The first step is to run Cryosat for as long as possible, but then we have a couple of missions that have the potential to become operational – and Cryosat is one of them.”
Esa itself does not launch repeat missions. It leaves this to Europe’s meteorological satellite organisation, Eumetsat. One option also for a recurring Cryosat series would be to incorporate it into the European Union’s forthcoming Sentinel Earth-observation project. These satellites are being launched to acquire high-priority environmental data-sets long into the future.
An earlier “satellite” used for Antarctic data collection
After spending over four years in orbit mapping tiny variations in Earth’s gravity field, ESA’s GOCE mission came to a natural end in 2013 when it ran out of fuel.

CryoSat-2, launched on 8 April 2010
Thanks to ESA’s CryoSat mission, a new map of Antarctica provides the most accurate 3D view ever of the continent’s vast ice sheet and floating ice shelves.
This latest digital elevation model, which is available for download, is a result of research published recently in The Cryosphere **. The model replaces the version published in March 2017.
The model uses about 250 million measurements that CryoSat took between July 2010 and July 2016.** source – ESA May 2018
The original CryoSat was proposed in 1998 by Duncan Wingham of University College London. The satellite’s planned three-year mission was to survey natural and human driven changes in the cryosphere on Earth. It was designed to provide much more accurate data on the rate of change of the surface elevation of the polar ice sheets and sea ice thickness. It was the first ESA Earth Sciences satellite selected through open, scientific competition.[3] It was destroyed on launch October 8, 2005. *** The existing satellite is therefore CryoSat-2, but the mission is still known as simply CryoSat

lol! How’s Sentinel-3B doing? Great, if you believe the story….
ANTARCTIC SUNSET FROM SENTINEL-3B
“contains modified data” – i.e probably a compositeThe Copernicus Sentinel-3B satellite captured its first image on 7 May 2018 at 10:33 GMT (12:33 CEST), less than two weeks after it was launched. The image shows the sunset over the Weddell Sea off the coast of Antarctica. While the line between day and night is clearly visible, bright streaks glint on the clouds from the sunset. The image was taken by the satellite’s ocean and land colour instrument, which features 21 distinct bands, a resolution of 300 m and a swath width of 1270 km. The instrument can be used to monitor aquatic biological productivity and marine pollution, and over land it can be used to monitor the health of vegetation. Sentinel-3B’s instrument package also includes a sea and land surface temperature radiometer, a synthetic aperture radar altimeter and a microwave radiometer. Sentinel-3B was launched from Russia on 25 April and joins its twin, Sentinel-3A, in orbit. The pairing of the two satellites optimises coverage and data delivery for Europe’s Copernicus environmental monitoring programme.

https://www.the-cryosphere.net/12/1551/2018/and from this “animation” derived from “satellite” data of Antarctic Ozone allgedly
Sentinel-5P measurements are now being included in ESA’s Climate Change Initiative to extend existing ozone records. Prior to Sentinel-5P, ozone measurements came from instruments carried on satellites such as ERS-2 and Envisat. The record goes back more than 20 years.Launched in October 2017, Sentinel-5P is the first Copernicus mission dedicated to monitoring our atmosphere. The satellite carries the state-of-the-art Tropomi instrument to map a multitude of trace gases that affect the air we breathe and our climate. As well as measuring ozone, this new mission also measures gases such as nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, sulphur dioxide, methane, carbon monoxide, and aerosols
Are we being taken for a rocket ride? Stand by for more animations of all the other gases and aerosols.
PS apparently Cryosat is still “up there” in orbit sending back data, as of September 2018

November 8, 2018 at 7:40 pm #856329xileffilexParticipantThe acid test for the globe earth would be a complete circumnavigation of Antarctica with verified distances. Or an over both poles circumnavigation of the “globe”.
There always seems to be some small problem with events claiming to represent the former – eg the Vendee yacht race.Under the radar was a planned flight to fulfil the second test…

This hoax did allow previous, alleged N-S circumnavigations to be reheated and served up again, e.g. Pan Am Flight 50 in 1977

http://www.pprune.org/australia-new-zealand-pacific/152934-erebus-25-years.htmlThe 40th anniversary of the MOUNT EREBUS Antarctica crash hoax has enabled the gatekeepers to come out to play at pprune once again.
https://www.pprune.org/australia-new-zealand-pacific/627393-mt-erebus-disaster-40th-anniversary.htmlAirport ceremonies, Apology from Jacinta Arden PM of NZ…. all the usual “Stuff” cementing the hoax into “true history”.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/117746516/prime-minister-jacinda-ardern-apologises-for-air-new-zealand-erebus-tragedy-at-40th-anniversary-eventone thing I notice from the past, shortly after this “accident” on November 28 1979 – a “crime” to give the appearance of a real event which is a common device of the scriptwriters. A burglary at the home of the pilot’s widow in early 1980.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/116618310/white-silence-the-bizarre-erebus-burglary–hardly-anything-was-missing?rm=m
Nothing much was taken allegedly, but…Maria called the police. The burglary was strange for a few reasons: The power cut. How many burglars cut the power? Also, hardly anything was missing. A tape recorder was gone, a digital clock, some passports. But not Maria’s jewellery, which was in the same drawer as the passports.
There was one more thing: a photo of her husband, Captain Jim Collins, torn to pieces, and placed back in the envelope where it was kept.
“So I knew it had to do with Erebus.”
All the 40th anniversary gatekeeping you need here:

And that is.
Why & by whom were the Pre Flight Co-ordinates changed ?
