The 57-year-old was killed Monday when a blast obliterated a home at 3356 Brimley Rd., near Steeles Ave., around 4:30 p.m.
He was the lone occupant of the residence, a Toronto Police source confirmed Tuesday.
The blast created a scene fire officials likened to a “war zone.” Debris was thrown hundreds of feet around the site.
Wayne Romaine, of the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office, said Tuesday it was a “gaseous” explosion caused by any one of a number of ignitable gasses or vapours from flammable liquids — butane, propane, natural gas and gasoline are all possibilities.
Is this the best our highly paid fire marshal can come up with? Can my gas tank in my car or my gas can for my lawn mower level my house?
