His Story – Stephen Hawking – Staging Techniques
    ===

Do not imagine that art or anything else is other than high magic! – is a system of holy hieroglyph. The artist, the initiate, thus frames his mysteries. The rest of the world scoff, or seek to understand, or pretend to understand; some few obtain the truth.

Alisier Crowley, The Drug and Other Stories

As can be learned through studying the destruction of the two WTC towers – it was a staged event planned a long time in advance. Not only were there movies, books, tv-shows and news-articles made before 9/11 – even the towers might have been built for the sole purpose of creating the illusion of tragedy and devastation. The towers and events of that day were created, and well in advance. To this day we still discover the various techniques employed to perform the act itself – and it wasn’t dustification by a directed energy weapon.

Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts

The first part is called “The Pledge”. The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course… it probably isn’t.

The second act is called “The Turn”. The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you’re looking for the secret…

But you won’t find it, because of course you’re not really looking. You don’t really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn’t clap yet. Because making something disappear isn’t enough; you have to bring it back. That’s why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call “The Prestige”.

    Christopher Priest, The Prestige

The British physicist Stephen Hawking constitute an important piece of the Universal puzzle of Space. His character immediately create sympathy and admiration – we are in the unmistakeable presence of a genius just by the mere sight of his ‘personage’.

Despite the impression of a science authority is made from very little tangible evidence, Stephen Hawking has been a blockbuster success, not only in science but also in many other fields where Hawking involves himself. Quite reminiscent of Albert Einstein, but more effective in-so-much as we can’t even talk to the man directly. Too good to be true – or rather – as good as magick gets ?

If Stephen Hawking should turn out to be a staged personality, this would surely imply the use of some sort of staging technique. Somehow unrelated, Ab did an interview with Jonathan Isbit ( FAK155 ) on squatting for health reasons, but while looking at a recent video on Stephen Hawking and his paralysed scientific siblings, it suddenly struck me that the squatting position is quite reminiscent of how a paralysed person in i wheelchair comes across with their awkward body. For someone used to Yoga or trained at squatting it would be possible to successfully play the part, even more-so if well prepared with purposeful binding, clothing and an adapted wheelchair. Just add “floppy” wooden legs, and,,, voilà ?

•the elasticity of the legs and waist would allow for various choices to conceal legs with clothing or in the back-rest of a wheel-chair. The strenuous position also would make facial expression of “weirdness” and unhabitual breathing quite natural for the impersonator

    Stephen Hawking - the chair
An empty chair – the tool of the trade
•the very technical appearence of a wheelchair make concealment very easy as no ordinary person use such equipment regularly while the formal language still induce a sense of knowing what we have before our eyes

•in this illustration nothing is made in terms of clothing, concealment or adaptation to chair itself – still it has an uncanny likeliness to some of the individuals that are presented as handicapped geniuses

Unreal I enjoy the way you flush out a theory. I’m not sure Hawking is squatting by looking at the video or if they are constantly switching out severely disabled characters to represent this tragic human.

thanks Ab – glad you found the post interesting

The Hawking type of handicapped person seem like a re-occuring issue and this type of staging could be used in Psyops, surely with different techniques. Maybe they’ve used it on some of the Hawkings – or none ! Still, when i saw the JS video, it struck me that the “new” Hawking pictured could easily be done in the way described by squatting in a repurposed chair. Easy to play one-legged for instance if squatting !
