Great post, again; they make for very interesting reading. Are there any more people to cover?

I made it to Hungerford, yesterday, for the anniversary. Anyone who’d made the trip in the hope of finding a town explicitly in mourning and remembrance, would have been disappointed. I was in the town for seven hours, and the only sign was specific to the memorial at the gates of the memorial gardens by the park (where Francis Butler allegedly got shot, and around where Marcus Barnard allegedly got shot in his taxi), where there were four bouquets of flowers laid out.

I encountered no journalists, although, walking along Southview, I noticed that quite a few houses had closed curtain, including the home of Sylvia Pascoe; perhaps in anticipation of them.

There was apparently a service at St Lawrence’s Church, in the town, although there was nothing alluding to this in or around the church, and no one there when I went there; I later read It was a ‘private ceremony’.

Brian Godfrey, the widower of Sue, appears to have lived, with his two children, James and Hannah, in Romsey, Hampshire: http://www.192.com/atoz/people/godfrey/hannah/so51/591102005/.

He married Judith in 1989, and the two of them now live in Bridport, Dorset: http://www.192.com/atoz/people/godfrey/judith/dt6/765464621/.

His hobbies now include beekeeping: https://www.pressreader.com/uk/scottish-daily-mail/20121030/282789238695425. His picture in that page does look like an older version of the man in the video posted a few posts ago, exiting the church with the children.

Colin Mason, who apparently identified his parents, Roland and Sheila, appears to still live in Hungerford: http://www.192.com/atoz/people/mason/colin/rg17/814321305/.

Robert ‘Bob’ Barclay, who was said to have heroically dragged John Storms out of his van and the line of fire, and into the safety of his house, appears also to still live locally: http://www.192.com/atoz/people/barclay/robert/rg17/3314041352/.

One person who there seems little information about, and who there appear to be no photos of, is Francis Butler, barring the information on his widow.

One of the floral tributes bore a familiar name; presumably relating to Ivor and Marjorie Jackson:

I didn’t get round to Sue – thanks for the gee-up and leg work.
Hannah Marie and James Edward b 1982/5 respectively. Long way, Savernake Forest, to come for a picnic with mum from Burghfield Common. Whatever, anything’s possible!

Their former Burghfield House is a large 4-bedroom bungalow. Is there evidence that James came with them to Sherfield English? Or Morcomblake for that matter? I can’t find it.
However, there is a James Godfrey, similar age range, living at a different address in Sherfield English, at a farm in the same road in the village – [Watson’s Farm – close to Buckhill, which was sold in November 2004] in 2009/10, with unconnected family names.. perhaps a coincidence. Perhaps not.

Indeed, there’s precious little information about Colin Butler.
His parents Frederick C Butler and Marion G nee French, brother Jeremy P. b 1963. who seemed to have two marriages in the 1980s in the Newbury area.
and who lived in the early 2000s in Hungerford
    http://www.192.com/atoz/people/butler/linda/rg17/3055628613/

Fred, his father, who “formally identified” his son, died in 2003. His mother was living in Hungerford until about 2008 but there’s no subsequent probate.

latterly at 75 High Street. Jeremy was living in the same road – Priory road- as the Gibbs and theJennings [q.v.] as well as Ian Playle in one source, although his probate related to a different address [vide supra]

although the 2002-4 address relates to Fairview Road #49

    [sold March 2004]
Fairview Road was the site of the alleged shooting of Abdul Khan and Alan Lepetit [the latter allegedly survived]
From the Guardian, August 20 1987

    https://www.theguardian.com/theguardian/2012/aug/20/archive-1987-hungerford-massacre-michael-ryan

on the corner of Priory Avenue and Hillside Road on the 1930s residential estate where mayhem had broken loose, a red Datsun, its lights still on and its windscreen smashed, stood parked. Inside was another body, its stained shroud failing to conceal the human form within.

That victim, according to one of the local residents standing in bewildered groups along the street, was the father of the estate’s beat policeman. He had come down to visit his son.

Further back along Priory Avenue, the neat privet hedge by Alan Lepetit’s coal yard presented a gaping, earthy gash where a Ford Transit van had ploughed into it after its driver had been shot through the neck.
Next door, Mr Roy Fox stood by his mini-market, where Mr Lepetit had run across the road, bleeding copiously from a shoulder wound, after seeing the gunman casually approach his children, waving his weapons as if they were toys. The doorway of the shop was still spattered with blood, and inside Mr Fox showed the dark stain where his friend had lain in a pool of blood for half an hour until an ambulance arrived.

‘I thought he was going to go, he’s lost so much blood,’ Mr Fox said.

    http://www.weirdisland.co.uk/people/murders/fairview-road.html

Another neighbour – Betty Tolladay – stepped out of her door, oblivious to the nature of what was happening, to remonstrate with Ryan for the amount of noise. He fired a shot at her but succeeded in merely wounding her.

Still outwardly calm, Ryan walked along Fairview Road towards Hungerford Common.

~Here’s Betty Tolladay, allegedly shot by Michael Ryan, wheeled out in 1996 to comment on the then current Dunblane psy-op by ITV, obviously an expert at mass murders with her left leg strapped up because she was “permanently disabled”. “It gets you upset” she says..
    http://www.ww.w.gettyicons.com/detail/video/aftermath-betty-tolladay-on-crutches-at-home-cms-bettys-news-footage/813142876
Also appearing two Wiltshire ambulancemen who were on the scene back in ’87 – George Simmons “I did the best I could under very trying circumstances”
and Dave Smith – “Hungerford, it was a lot of adults, but with children, it’s the worst, it’s the sort of job you don’t want to do”

on Mrs Tolladay in 2010 when presumably she had already – actually that was in 1998, when aged 80.
    https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2010/jun/10/hungerford-revisited-massacre-michael-ryan

[Ryan] shot her through the hip but she survived. “She ended up the rest of her life in great pain, in a wheelchair,” says [Jack] Williams.

    Another report –

Betty Tolladay, 71, had heard loud bangs, and thinking it was children playing with firecrackers, had come out into her back garden to shout at them to keep the noise down. Instead she found Ryan, who shot her once. The bullet entered her groin, smashed the top of her hip, part of her pelvis and the sciatic nerve, before exiting via her back. She managed to drag herself into her house and survived.

Ah, Firecrackers, the usual child’s toy in the middle of a summer’s day. From the video, it seems she has lower leg problems. And she was born in 1918, so couldn’t have been 71. Perhaps as Betty Bradbury in Hackney. In which case her husband died in 1976 and they had no children.

Let’s see how another pensioner story stacks up – that of Myra Rose allegedly aged 75 who had also gone for some reason to the Savernake Forest from Bournemouth.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9501881/Hungerford-Forget-We-cant.-Its-never-going-away.html

Hannah and James were found wandering in the woods by Myra Rose, a pensioner out for a walk. “Oh, we’ve been looking for you,” said Hannah. “We were coming to find you. A man shot my mum. We’ve had our picnic and I’m going home to find Daddy.

cool kid…as one would be [not] aged 4

however we get another detail for the narrative…

Mrs Godfrey, 35, from the village of Burghfield Common, near Reading, was on her way to visit her grandmother, Nellie.
The picnic would provide Hannah, four, and James, two, with a break from the journey.

    [location of “Nellie” not providied]
    retold here

And Myra’s excuse for being there?
    http://murderpedia.org/male.R/r/ryan-michael-robert-part2.htm

she was staying with friends in nearby Marlborough. The woodland setting was so soothing that she decided to sit down and read for a while…

    sure it was.
She was certainly living in Knyveton Road until 2005 in Bournemouth, however no satisfactory death is recorded until 2014, when she would have been at least 101.
    http://www.192.com/atoz/people/rose/myra/bh1/1501654372/
She was later in the Crescent Nursing Home, also in Bournemouth.

The ex-wife of PC Trevor Wainwright remarried, as did Trevor, and ended up living …in Priory Avenue,
    http://www.192.com/atoz/people/farr/john/rg17/3614450728/
A business run by Trevor’s wife and her son was wound up earlier this year.

Dave Smith [ambulanceman who would be wheeled out again in 1996] Margaret Thatcher thanking the doctors and paramedics for participating in the event, and a military helicopter landing with the serving military son of a couple separated by death – his mother survived, seriously injured, we are told. [Who would that be?]
PM Thatcher: “There weren’t any words in the English language that could adequately describe what’s happened…it’s an evil crime.”
    Perhaps the word ‘hoax’?

A contemporary report from The Guardian provides further witnesses
    https://www.theguardian.com/fromthearchive/story/0,12269,1286273,00.html

Mrs Jennifer Hibberd, of Fairview Road, said: ‘He was just strolling around very calmly and shooting. ‘ She said she had come face to face with Ryan, whom she knows, just as her father arrived home.

She dragged her father inside to join her and her 14-year-old daughter, then telephoned her older daughter and husband at work, warning them not to come home. ‘I believe his mother is dead inside the house,’ she said.
She said that one of the victims was a woman who was driving her daughter to visit a relative. ‘He just emptied the shotgun into the car. The woman had blood on her. Her daughter was leaning over her with her head down. She managed to reverse down the road. Oh God I hope she’s all right. ‘

Mrs Barbara Morley, another witness of the killings – one of the bloodiest massacres in Britain – said: ‘He was just strolling along the road, shooting at anything that moved. ‘

In which case, how did Mrs Jackson see Ryan’s mother gunned down? Nothing like getting the official narrative out there quickly, in time honoured tradition.

Witness Carl Harries doesn’t figure in the recent BBC telling of the story.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/hungerford_massacre
However, from the Daily Mail in 2007

the town’s mayor Peter Harries, who will be hosting the town’s official memorial service on August 19, is the father of Carl Harries, a young soldier who was commended by the coroner for his bravery on that tragic afternoon.
Now 41, Carl is serving as an Army captain in Basra.
His mum Shirley Harries, 61, says: “Carl came face-toface with Michael Ryan. He’s since said all he remembers was a “blank face, semi-smiling”.
“Carl ducked through a hedge, then spent the afternoon running from one victim to another, calming people and administering first-aid.
“He helped get 22-year-old Sandra Hill out of her car after she’d been shot in the head. Sadly, she died in his arms.
“He also resuscitated Ian Playle and tried to save the lives of Jack and Myrtle Gibb.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-474613/Haunted-Hungerford.html

Euphoria at Cluesforum did some excellent work and mentioned Carl Harries.
    http://cluesforum.info/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1202
but the thread died a death, coupled with the seemingly deliberate axeing of the hosting possibility for uploads to website from photobucket which has everything to do with blocking truth investigations.

Lance Corporal Carl Harries, 21, a young off-duty soldier and veteran of the Falklands War, was on his way into town, to pick up a radiator hose, when he walked into the midst of the massacre. Not able to stand by and idly watch people suffer, he had repeatedly risked his life to help a number of victims, giving first aid where he could and solace to those having lost loved ones. Harries later received the Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct.
Amongst others also later commended for their bravery were ambulance-women Hazel Haslett and Linda Bright, who had been shot at by Ryan but who had continued working selflessly late into the night to help other victims.

A contemporary report from the US in 1987 –
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1987/08/20/gunman-in-england-kills-14-in-six-hours-of-terror/423a49c3-da70-4ee6-a48d-fd18dd0bf361/?utm_term=.b6e5d717047f

Carl Harries, a lance corporal in the British Army on home leave visiting his parents, broke down in tears as he described how he found a woman shot in the chest at the wheel of her car.
    “She was making gurgling noises.
I tried to help her but then a man said she was dead,” he said.

    and in 2012

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9501881/Hungerford-Forget-We-cant.-Its-never-going-away.html

We held a little memorial service for the 20th anniversary and I said then that we would draw a line under this,” says Peter Harries, whose son Carl, now an officer in the Australian army, shadowed Ryan as he shot his way through the town, treating the dying and the wounded as he best could. “To people who suffer similar experiences we can say, ‘We got through it. We’ve laid it to rest.’?”
Some, though, cannot move on. They carry reminders with them – bullets that cannot be removed, and memories. Alison Chapman was 16 when Ryan selected her for execution. She and her mother, Linda, were in the family Volvo when they came across him in South View.
“He pointed the gun at my side and fired,” recalls Alison. “A burning sensation went through my leg. Then he started shooting at my mother. A bullet went through her shoulder. I’ve never seen anything so horrific.”
Ryan, impassive, fired 11 rounds into their car before pausing to reload. Mrs Chapman seized the chance to escape, somehow reversing down the narrow cul-de-sac. Though seriously wounded, mother and daughter survived. One of the bullets remains lodged in Alison’s lower back.
Alison calls her bullet Billy – “my little friend, my little foe”. Sometimes, she is immobilised by pain. There are nightmares, too. “In my most violent ones, I am being buried alive, chased through a wood, being stabbed or drowned or shut in a burning building. Sometimes, I see Michael Ryan’s face.”

Ah, yes, like many 75-year-old women, she just decided to squat down in the forest, and read a book; perhaps she even brought a beanbag, specially!

She certainly had a good innings, if she lived to be at least 101; must be all that sitting down and reading in the forest; what a health message to us all!

Reading Hannah Godfrey’s dialect at such a tender age, she must be by now a literary genius; I’m surprised we haven’t heard more about her…….

The contemporary Guardian article names the then caretaker of John of Gaunt school as one John Miles. This can’t be the same John Miles who founded the Hungerford Theatre company, can it?

As is often the case, Bright had only just arrived at Hungerford, three weeks previously…Haslett received leg and arm injuries from “flying glass” – their windscreen had been shattered….yes, there it is, the ambulance with bullet hole, and they’re still sitting in it.

We’re not too far here from Dr Kelly hoax territory, 2003 style, with the ambulance service once again playing a key role in that event.

This covers again Marjorie Jackson’s speech from her sick bed, “I see his mother gunned down outside the house, there was bodies everywhere” [looking unconvincing]
Dave Smith [ambulanceman who would be wheeled out again in 1996] Margaret Thatcher thanking the doctors and paramedics for participating in the event, and a military helicopter landing with the serving military son of a couple separated by death – his mother survived, seriously injured, we are told. [Who would that be?[/QUOTE]

The ‘unnamed character’ emerging from the helicopter could only be one of the Wainwright siblings, as the Wainwright spouses are the only ones who supposedly both got shot, following which there was any significant period during which one of whom was alive, and the other, dead, barring the Mr and Mrs Gibbs (with Mrs Gibbs supposedly succumbing finally to her injuries, the day after she was shot); and they didn’t have any children.

There also seems to be precious little information for Jenny Barnard, post the massacre………..

Leslie Bean is also someone I’ve failed to find a trace of, online. Since the event, the name ‘Mr Bean’ now has comedic connotations; but perhaps both are, in reality, comedy actors/characters!

The baby accompanying Jennifer or Jenny “Barnard” was also given the name Jo Michael Bowring which implies that the mother [no marriage was recorded in England and Wales] was Jennifer or Jenny Bowring.

The contemporary Guardian article names the then caretaker of John of Gaunt school as one John Miles. This can’t be the same John Miles who founded the Hungerford Theatre company, can it?

Maybe that’s where they got the actors from…….

We do have a very high concentration of school caretakers in this psy-op, in addition to John Miles…
Michael Ryan allegedly lost his job as a school caretaker. because, he was becoming “withdrawn”
    http://outlawjimmy.com/questions/one-august-afternoon/

And Marjorie Jackson was a school caretaker of a junior school, the same one in which Doreen Ryan was a school meals supervisor..

Here’s another source of onside witness from a contemporary repeort…

Barbara Morley said: “I was just going for a walk along Fairview Road when I saw this man with a rifle, or a shotgun, walking along an alleyway, shooting at the houses. I couldn’t believe it. I rushed to ring the police – then a girl I had seen earlier came running up to me and said her dad had been shot.”

The first ambulance on the scene had a two-woman crew and was fired at by the gunman. As they ducked for cover, the windscreen shattered.

Amanda Jennings, 17, was told by police that her father had been shot. She ran back towards her home and spoke to her father as he was being taken away in the ambulance.

“He had been shot in the top of his leg. The gunman just shot him, through the door of his house,” she said.

In Priory Road, Joyce Anderson had just returned home after a morning shopping visit to Hungerford market when she saw the gunman walking up the road towards her house, wielding what appeared to be a rifle.

“He was about eight houses away when I saw him walking up the road. We’d already heard shots, and we saw the police and ambulances on our way home, so we knew who it was.

“He was carrying his rifle rather casually and wearing what looked like khaki trousers. I thought, `My God, it’s the gunman’ – It was very frightening.”<strong> Mrs Anderson, a care assistant in an old people’s home</strong>, ran across the road and <strong>grabbed two children, Rodney Smith, six, and his brother Anthony, nine, </strong>who were playing in the gunman’s path. She ran with them back to her semi-detached Victorian house. <strong>”I didn’t know the children,</strong> but I pulled them inside our house and locked the door.”

<strong>Gordon Anderson, a civil servant,</strong> said: “My wife just shrieked at me: `The gunman’s outside!’ I was very alarmed. He came up the road shooting anywhere at anything.”

..eyewitness, Frank Locks, said: “He just looked as if he was out walking; he was just walking down the road firing a gun.”

    NOTES on the above post…
There’s no such person as Frank Locks [sic] – possibly Francis Lock whose last trace was in an old people’s home in Kintbury, just outside Hungerford.

Regarding the strange lucky escape by “Hungerford survivor” Michael Jennings reported in 2015, the previously quoted link didn’t identify the passenger in his car,, being another retired ambulance man.
    Here’s the additional information
    May 6 2015
    http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/news/home/14450/Man-jailed-for-five-years-after.html

Mr Evans’ widow, Sally Evans, has spoken of her sorrow and the long lasting effects upon her children, grandchildren and herself, following the death of her husband, a retired ambulance driver, and including a warning to those tempted to use a mobile telephone whilst driving.
Adam Lipowski, aged 42, of Walmer Close, Tilehurst in Reading, was found guilty in March after a week-long trial, where it was established he was using a mobile telephone at the time of the collision and according to a Thames Valley Police (TVP) statement today (May 6).

He has today been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for causing death by dangerous driving and was disqualified from driving for five years.

The alleged fatal crash was on September 11 2013 at the entrance to Oratory School, Woodcote, Reading, when the bin lorry allegedly shunted Jennings’ Subaru into the path of an oncoming Ford Focus.

    Really?

A passenger in one of the cars was taken to hospital but has since died.
His next of kin have not yet been informed.
Another man has been taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment, while a third man has been airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

As noted above, Amanda [Clare] Jennings is the daughter of Michael and Christine.[q.v.]

The Guardian [op cit] also heard from key witness Barbara Morley

Mrs Barbara Morley, another witness of the killings – one of the bloodiest massacres in Britain – said: ‘He was just strolling along the road, shooting at anything that moved. ‘

In a house less than 30 yards down the street from the fire in Fairview Road, police comforted a Mrs Carr, aged 81, whose husband, aged 84, lay dead in the garden.

Mrs Carr, in tears, said: ‘I heard him go out into the garden and I heard a couple of shots. My husband groaned and started calling out my name. I could see him lying there with wounds on his side, under his arm and in his back.

‘All I wanted to do was go outside in the garden and cover him with blankets, but I could not get out because there were shots ringing around. ‘

Ah yes, that would be Abdur Rahman Khan b.1903. An easy mistake to make….and “Mrs Khan” was Bessie Edith Khan who died aged 92 in 1999.

Mrs Morley is untraceable. However, the Andersons remained in Priory Road [#59] at least until 2014, Joyce nee Tuttle, b 1932, m 1951 and who would have been empty nesters by 1986.
