While many or most of us here do not propagate fear, there is also the distinct possibility of pacifying the state of illusion in another. An honest attempt to calmly and confidently explain a worldview paradigm can be quite difficult at times. I’ve often found i notice a subtle flight or fight response in my experiences with someone I feel has been totally “ill”uded by something; anything. What i am really noticing is my past-self; a point at which I also was the “ill”uded. How would I help myself? When i am confused and totally fooled again, inevitably, how would i want someone to respond to me. Even more challenging is the idea that “I” am Myself. Another potential illusion. In this challenge we each share, when offering a new perspective, we will no doubt encounter the falsest selves of themseleves. Those “selves” being the egos of the illuded wanting to crawl back under the table. All in all, there is a subtle balance in being so-called “awake” to fakery. For certain, when you critisize someone, you make it harder for them to change. However, when you pacify them, you’ll make it equally hard. Somewhere in between. Maybe.

another perspective. essential to holistic response i reckon. http://bigthink.com/the-moral-sciences-club/the-self-is-not-an-illusion

Now, were’t you just sitting in front of a TV that day?

Tackle large problems while they are still small. You are, and always will be the teacher and the student. There is no illusion in that. I think;) have a good day!

How do people respond to information that contradicts their world view? Even if this new, potentially disruptive information is presented by what is to them a reliable source, a good number of people ignore it, never even letting it be processed, never allowing themselves to be updated. Cue – cognitive dissonance:-)
There is a lot of good stuff in the following paper about the strategies we use to reduce cognitive dissonance and resist updating ourselves:
attitude bolstering (randomly saying things that sound good without rebutting the argument)
inferred justification ( assuming that the ptb must have a good reason for doing what they’re doing)
    Etc
