Another suspicious one, featured in Air Crash Investigation, so also see:

    http://fakeologist.com/fakeopedia/index.php/Jet_rule

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Florida_Flight_90

    Analysis ACI:
    * Navy pilot is third officer, flight struck 14th bridge in Washington D.C.
    * Passenger with 67 fractured bones managed to swim out the plane when it was in the Potomac River.
    * Cameraman [in the middle of a snowstorm on the bridge???] takes footage.
    * Emergency services arrive minutes later [?!].
    * Survivors escape plane in life jackets??
    * When did they put that on?? The crash was a complete surprise. Did they pull it out from underneath the crashed seats in the freezing water?
    * Guy Sputnik…ehh Skutnik jumps in, tries to save the woman, but fails to grab her. Suddenly other rescuers are in the water…?
    * NTSB guy also former US Navy pilot.
    * Finding a -grainy!- photo of the plane, 10 minutes after de-icing it, taken from another plane in their records???
    * In those times film was costly, not like today you’d take snapshots and selfies of every turd to put on Pinterest…
    * Search area the size of a football pitch [presented as if that is big, but for a plane it’s obviously not] and only after 7 days [??] the FDR and also CDR are found?
    * “He peels away wreckage with razor sharp metal”
    * [but… the wreckage was already taken out by cranes days before??]

Bears similarity to the Taipei River crash, cutting through the bridge like a 9/11 plane and the Hudson Hoax, 27 years and 2 days later…

    Synchronicity, xileffilex!

    I just added:

    http://fakeologist.com/fakeopedia/index.php/Crash_Exercise_Planes_Portrayed_As_Real

I got the idea from listening to those Air Crash “Investigation” docus. An experienced pilot literally said “I am flying since 1968 and NEVER had an engine failure”. See link in the article.

What I think they do is:
    – training exercise planned in Intelligence
    – pilots exercise the so-called crash
    – vicsims added
    – plane debris planted as “evidence”
    – researchers (who I think are not in the know) do their work
NTSB, also involved in non-American “crashes”!, has a board of only 5 members. They decide on the cause of a crash…!

One can spend a full week just reading these plane crash psyops and the stories are crazier and crazier. The 50s and early 1960s were especially dotted with these crashes, between WWII and “Vietnam” to keep the news running with disasters. They even admit that in this video (National Geographic), and would be a new rule, the Jet rule; “If a plane crash appears in documentaries like Mayday, Air Crash Identification or Seconds from Disaster, it is probably staged”:

Share some links now to read with crazy stuff, but one I have to highlight later because it is a great one. Will post it later at Fakeopedia.

    1 – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1961_Goldsboro_B-52_crash
Carrying two unclear bombs, that apparently were deployed automagically with parachute (1) and falling into an already dug hole (2nd) (see photo).

    2 – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_Flight_311
Note the numerology (33). According to the story, two piss-drunk Finnish pilots flying lower than 100 meters altitude for 40 km and the last part lower than 50 m (!). Allegedly at that altitude those clowns did maneuvers still? How can that be?

    3 – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BOAC_Flight_781
The one from the video above. It’s a nice watch, full of ridiculous drama. And a deaf (!) girl asking the ground stewardess questions?! On 01/10, ’54 (9-11), took off from Rome at 10:31 (3×11=33). The First Officer on Flight 781 was William John Bury, age 33. Among the casualties were Chester Wilmot, a prominent Australian journalist and military historian working for the BBC [his daughter is the deaf girl], and Dorothy Beecher Baker, a Hand of the Cause of God for the Baha’i Faith. Initially it was thought that the aircraft might have been brought down by a bomb [for extra fear mongering].

Yes, I read that part, but wanted to save it for another time.

This DC6 footage indeed looks comical.

    – you see 2 men carrying a steel stretcher with a “body”, uphill through forest and on slippery slopes. That means 75 kilos (body) + 5-10 kilos (stretcher), let’s say 80 kilos, so 40 kilos per person. The way they move doesn’t show that, if it is even possible to do it with two men in such rough conditions.
    – and why didn’t the helicopter pick up the bodies, pulling them in while hovering?

    Wiki says:

“Kapell was the only United States citizen in the plane. Most of the others were from Australia, the United Kingdom along with one passenger from Canada.”

    and

“The aircraft was flying the Honolulu – San Francisco leg with a crew of 8 and 11 passengers (10 adults and 1 child).”

    A DC6 has:
    “DC-6-1159 a 48- to 64-seat trans-ocean variant”

How credible is it, that a flight of such a long stretch:
    – only has 1 US American on board (domestic but trans-ocean from Hawaii)
    – an extremely expensive and long flight, especially for those early days of commercial flying would be filled less than 25% ??

“Except for the body of William Kapell, which was quickly transported by family members back to his home state of New York, bodies were cremated at Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma, California and returned to their families. Two (2) did remain in the cemetery, passenger Williaam (two “a”s is the correct spelling) Cox in a standard plot, while purser Knight’s ashes were placed in a niche in the columbarium at Cypress Lawn.”

Wiki says identification was done via “dental records”, how? If the families were in Australia, Canada and UK, how did that happen?

“Dear families, your family member died here in California in a horrible crash, please do not come over, but go to your family dentist, ask for photos and send them to us by postal mail. Please do not travel here, we take care of the bodies, cremate them for you and send you a package of ash that may or may not be your dear family member.”

    Sorry, but WHAT??

    Psyop of the day, tomorrow.

The numerological spookiness is overwhelming in this one:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Airlines_Flight_266

United Airlines Flight 266 was a scheduled flight from Los Angeles International Airport, California, to General Mitchell International Airport, Milwaukee, Wisconsin via Stapleton International Airport, Denver, Colorado with 38 on board. On January 18, 1969 at approximately 18:21 PST it crashed into Santa Monica Bay, Pacific Ocean, about 11.5 miles west of Los Angeles International Airport, four minutes after takeoff.

Rescuers (at the time) speculated that an explosion occurred aboard the plane, a Boeing 727. Three and a half hours after the crash three bodies had been found in the ocean along with parts of fuselage and a United States mail bag carrying letters with that day’s postmark. Hope was dim for survivors because United’s domestic flights do not carry liferafts or lifejackets. A Coast Guard spokesman said it looked “very doubtful that there could be anybody alive.”

Quoting some unspecified people; “rescuers”, “a coast guard spokesman”.

The crew of Flight 266 was Captain Leonard Leverson, 49, a veteran pilot who had been with United Airlines for 22 years and had almost 13,700 [11] flying hours to his credit. His first officer was Walter Schlemmer, 33, who had approximately 7,500 hours, and his Flight Engineer was Keith Ostrander, 29, who had 634 hours.

The Boeing 727 aircraft, registration N7434U, had a nonfunctional #3 generator for the past several days leading up to the accident. Per STANDARD procedure, [???] the crew placed masking tape over the switches and warning lights for the generator. Approximately two minutes after takeoff, the crew reported a fire warning on engine #1 and shut it off. The crew radioed to departure control that they only had one functioning generator and needed to come back to the airport, but it turned out to be their last communication, with subsequent attempts to contact Flight 266 proving unsuccessful. Shortly after engine #1 shut down, the #2 generator also ceased operating, for unknown cause. The NTSB was unable to determine why the #2 generator had failed after it had become the plane’s sole power source, nor why the “standby electrical system either was not activated or failed to function.”

Masking tape. Standard procedure in 1969. Ask NASA. 😀

And a possible motive to stage this, regulation changes:

At the time, a battery-powered backup source for critical flight instruments was not required on commercial aircraft. The accident prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to require all transport-category aircraft to carry backup instrumentation, powered by a source independent of the generators.

So in 1969, just 6 months after this “plane crash” NASA sends people to the freaking Moon, but the airplanes of the time did not have lifejackets, proper maintenance, back-up generators, yet masking tape??

    Good story guys. Bedtime.

    – Bild link says 44 injured now
    – but… if you read on, it says “Alle 44 Businsassen verletzt, darunter sieben Erwachsene und 39 Kinder.”
“All 44 who were on the bus injured, among them 7 adults and 39 children”. Can those guys not count??
    – 8 of them seriously injured and 6 of those life-threatening (really?? look at the pics)
    – town is named as having “around 15150 inhabitants”
    – I was going to say; no brake marks behind the bus, but Bild maintains the bus didn’t brake
    – do buses not have airbags for the driver?
    – “Fotos der Unfallstelle zeigen eine schwer beschädigte Wand.”
Photos of the place of accident show a heavily damaged wall.

Then… you must have different photos than you released to Joe Public, echo24…

    Not a scratch!

Pegasus plane skidding off the runway in Trabzon, NE Turkey

    Dangling plane

    Looks staged.

    Plane wide shot

Here you see that the area the plane “skidded off” is barren because of recent mud slides; sediment going downhill. Contrasting with the coastline more in the back that is vegetated. What does that smaller mud slide in the foreground mean? And why is there an even more recent slide seen in front of the plane, but no mud slide below where allegedly a 78 ton plane is supposed to have “bulldozered” the sediment??

    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-42680238

Video taken with some fecking toy drone with a low quality. Even a consumer-type drone films in 4K, why do we see some low resolution video here?

Note the passengers in some drill plane screaming, video filmed VVS (Vertical Video Syndrome, a sign of staging) to reduce details and still convey the message that “something is going on”.

    Inflatable slide

What is this inflatable whitish thing here? Is it a slide for emergency landings?

    1 – why use it?
2 – how does it end up to the front of the back door, not below it?
3 – why did they remove the thing for the day time photos and drone video?

    Inflatable slide GONE

And why is this inflatable slide (or whatever it is) GONE in the same night time photo here??

Note that this miracle “happened” exactly 9 years after the other “Miracle plane landing, the Hudson Hoax”

Vexman, this very topic and especially your first reaction are “addressed” by JLB himself. What he does is just confirming the observations made about him, so he exposes himself even more as completely detached from persons. He even says “the truth is trolling these guys”. And he calls himself a philosopher. The truth (an impossible to reach asymptotic ideal) cannot “troll”. Only people can. So you immediately see how he externalizes personal behavior to things.

Without addressing any of the points made in the OP. Red herrings that I don’t provide “quotes”. I have listed the audios and comments. Mister JLB presents himself as someone who chases logic. The thing is, he doesn’t. He cannot read either. I asked a question. He says that I make a claim. Not even the post that analyzes his behavior he doesn’t take seriously. Busted.

Reading this post about JLB came as a big surprise for me, especially since it came from you. I have a fresh memory of you suggesting his website is worth including in the link section at POM and saying that paying for a membership access to his site is money well spent. I guess we’re all just people, who tend to change our worldviews as the time passes by. And that is both a human characteristic and a possibility for growth and personal improvement.

I told you some time ago that taking skepticism to the extreme may turn anybody into an utterly nihilistic person. Nihilism is a philosophical trap. And I honestly believe that is JLB’s single biggest issue, he has lost himself in the maze of his own thoughts, where anything he’s not able to factually prove, gets dismissed. He ended up with an extremely short list of reality he was able to confirm (in his own methodology) and now he’s stuck with it. It’s hard to find anybody to talk to with this kind of limiting yourself. In the extreme, say the philosophers, “cogito ergo sum” is the only thought that can survive a nihilistic approach. I say – bollocks.

Another very disturbing thing in my opinion is the concept of dissipating the truth – for money. So if I understand this correctly, anybody who reaches the highest levels of knowledge and/or truth, has an opportunity to be reach since there are numerous guys and gals willing to pay for it. Well, I completely reject this idea. How about doing it for free, because you want everybody to reach your level and actually improve this crazy world? How about helping everybody instead of creating another obstacle in order to reach knowledge? I really don’t know what to make of it. Frankly, I have an opinion about such monetizing of truther’s page – it’s really, really wrong way to go as a truther.

You’re right; I have now to acknowledge I was charmed, tricked, a victim of shallow tactics, that I didn’t recognize as being tactics.

And also I agree that nihilism is a trap, have talked about that before, both on- and offline.

I however still think it is fair to ask for people to pay. Most of us are posting our research out for free which deserves respect, nevertheless if you spend time (and thus not on money-making business), it is fair to ask for a compensation for that time.

The problem I have with this character is that he never provides answers. He’s very good in asking (and dodging) question, but when one asks for answers, there is no response or some silly rabbit trail leading nowhere. That and many more signs shows for me the guy is a psychopath, just here to suck off energy of others for his own amusement/parasitic behavior.

You and me may disagree on certain topics, still we can acknowledge each other’s efforts into research. It is this Divide and Conquer strategy that tries to split us, but I see no reason to succumb to that, no matter we may think differently about Miles Mathis’ “science” stuff.

My position is: “let’s embrace our similarities, let’s respect our differences”.

    Yesterday, 165 years ago:

On a chilly January 6, 1853, Pierce, his wife, and his 11-year-old son, Benny, traveled by train from Andover back home to Concord, New Hampshire. The family, having been in Massachusetts for a funeral, boarded the two-car locomotive at around 1 p.m. But minutes after settling in their seats, tragedy struck.

One of the train’s axles suddenly fractured, and the Pierces’ car tumbled off the tracks and down a 20-foot embankment. The train car, according to a New York Times account of the wreck, “broke in pieces like a cigar box.” The accident resulted in several injuries and one fatality: 11-year-old Benny Pierce, who was nearly decapitated and killed instantly.

    http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/2018/01/04/franklin-pierce-train-wreck/

Within a few seconds, fate would have Franklin and Jane Pierce attending another funeral days later. In fact, it would be the funeral of Bennie.

Within seconds of realizing the train was about to fall, the President-Elect was able to grasp his wife and son, but as the motion jarred them, Bennie tumbled from his father’s protective arms.

The boy fell against the side wall of the car just as it was overturning. Most accounts describe the side wall separating briefly from the flooring of the train car. Bennie Pierce tumbled in between that crevice.

The back of his head was instantly crushed, the skull bone and brains dashed out and splattered.

It was just a matter of seconds, but Jane Pierce’s eyes were wide open as her son was horrifically killed, the President-Elect unable to shield her view in that brief, momentary turning of life.

The Train Accident that Broke A President, Estranged His Wife & Killed His Son

It’s impossible to imagine how President Pierce even coped with this tragedy or how it may have truly impacted his presidency, but two changes are apparent. First, he became the only U.S. president to choose to affirm the oath of office rather than swear. A 1985 New York Times letter to the editor by Thomas Vinciguerra states that President Pierce did this because he believed that the death of his son was punishment for his sins and did not use a Bible for the inauguration.

The second is that in 1856, President Pierce became the first president to have a decorated Christmas tree placed in the White House in an attempt to cheer up Jane who was still mourning the death of Bennie. The tradition has remained uninterrupted to this day.

    http://aarontallent.com/?p=2272

Lots of “seconds”, “brieflies”, “instantlies” etc. What are the chances that an 11 year old son of the later president of the USA (Freemason of course, see photo in first link) would be the only one killed in a suspicious train crash?

More BBS, that seem to be linked to boat incidents (Titanic, anyone?)…

    Lucy Walker steamboat disaster

    Typical self-contradicting wiki-schizo writing:

The destruction of the Lucy Walker is well documented, but nearly every source contains some contradictions, garbled names, or incomplete information.

Various sources provide estimates of fatalities widely ranging from 18 to more than 100 deaths.

Since the vessel’s passenger manifests and crew lists were lost, there is no way to know precisely how many died.

    Convenient…

Even the date of the accident has frequently been listed in error in many reference works, which have the date as October 22 or 25, 1844.

Political hustle, later done with trains and airplanes:

In addition, steamboat safety was an important aspect of the larger conflict between partisans of Andrew Jackson’s states-rights vision of America as a federation of strong state governments and Henry Clay’s “Internal Improvements Program” by a strong central government. An inadequate 1838 law was greatly strengthened by the Act of 1852, which included hydrostatic testing of boilers, the establishment of maximum pressures allowed, and inspection of boiler plate at the point of manufacture. In addition, engineers were subject to testing and licenses. Subsequent legislation led to the establishment of the Steamboat Inspection Service and eventually a real reduction in fatal episodes. Among the first government sponsorship for pure scientific research was a grant to the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia for the study of causes of boiler explosions. The investigation of steamboat fatal accidents like the Lucy Walker in the early 19th century was paralleled by similar actions taken after fatal crashes of airships and aircraft in the first half of the 20th century, which resulted in the establishment of the Federal Aeronautics Administration.

    BBS:

Vann was famous for the great wealth inherited from his father, James Vann, including a famous mansion (Chief Vann House) and was known as “Rich Joe” Vann

Among the dead were General James West Pegram, a lawyer and banker, whose sons would become important Confederate officers in the Civil War. Pegram was also an important leader in the Whig party.

Special Postal Agent Samuel Mansfield Brown of Lexington, Kentucky, was also identified as a victim. Brown had been one of the protagonists in a famous frontier brawl at Russell Cave, Kentucky, with Cassius Marcellus Clay, a Louisville newspaperman, emancipationist, and distant cousin of Henry Clay. When he learned of Brown’s demise, Cassius Clay noted that Sam Brown was the bravest of all of the many persons Clay had fought during a very combative career.

Note that Muhammed Ali was called Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.

    Numerology and CRAZY stories:

The Lucy Walker was an average vessel of her time: 144 feet (44 m) long with a beam of 24 feet 6 inches (7.47 m) and a draft of 5’6″ (1.68 m). She displaced 183 tons.

About 5:00 on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 23, 1844, suddenly, the three boilers exploded in a mighty blast, propelling shards of metal and pieces of human flesh. One man shot 50 feet (15 m) in the air, to fall as a missile, piercing the boat’s deck. Another was sliced in half by a piece of a boiler wall. The vessel then caught fire and quickly sank in 12 feet (3.7 m) of the Ohio River.

36 passengers and twenty crew members were identified as killed in the explosion, and forty-eight passengers and seven crew members who survived, with a total of 111 persons aboard.

Suuure! And sinking in just 12 feet of water? A steamboat!? Very credible…

How do we know the towers were asbestos laden? Are we even positive asbestos dust is lethal and causes the #1 medical claim in the world, mesothelioma?

I doubt any fireman went to any 9/11 WTC fire scene. You were watching a movie, I propose those that did the cleanup were fully protected from any poisons emanating from the pile.

How far did those that went to help really get, if they could get near at all? I propose no-one who wasn’t invited got in. Those that did get in were fully protected from whatever toxins were there.

The firemen presented today that are dying of 9/11 -itis are either dying from other causes or are hoax management actors perpetuating the myth.

You’re right, I don’t know that. I take those buildings were loaded with asbestos because many other buildings constructed in those years were. I’ve seen asbestos minerals in the field (chrysotile), and understand that fine needles can hurt lungs.

It could be that the people who cleaned up the rubble pile afterwards were fully protected with masks and stuff, yes.

But at the same time, those perpetraitors don’t care about us, they will let it go on easily. They would have no problem with people dying from the aftermath, because their “””bonus””” is already cashed.

I wouldn’t personally discard all the stories about servicing people dying from the after effects as crisis actors without knowing them. The ones who claimed to be part of the staged event, ok, but the ones after…? Who cares if they die?

The military command doesn’t care about John Doe soldier losing his legs in Iraq either… And yes, that happened for real.

I find this “NO deaths at 9/11” doctrine quite unconvincing. Of course all the so-called victims (vicsims) that were presented in the media that allegedly were there at that day in the towers and so on are faked.

But that afterwards because of the effects of the demolition of the asbestos-rich towers firemen and other services died I see as also 9/11 deaths; they wouldn’t have died from those complications if they weren’t there in the first place.

Those people really went in with the idea to help and have been exposed to the dirtiest of crime scenes against their will. If there are any true victims of 9/11 in the US (apart from the ones in Afghanistan, Iraq and above all the truth), it is them.

Or in other words regarding my signature: they were unable to not inhale…

    Interesting.

Isn’t a train a Faraday Cage? So how can outside cables even cause “electrocution” inside the train?
And how does electrocution cause victims to become unrecognizable?

Those stories never make any sense.

And of course some people take those maps at face value and twist it into a “mysterical” conspiracy theory:

    Anomalous Antarctica Maps

Did ancient explorers sail the coast of an ice-free Antarctica? Did they possess mapping tools that we don’t know about? The human race is a species with amnesia and this appears to be another chapter in our history lost to the ages and ignored for convenience.

    Ever heard of this one?

    Summit Tunnel fire

On 20 December 1984 a dangerous goods train passing through the Summit Tunnel on the Greater Manchester/West Yorkshire border, caught fire on the rail line between Littleborough and Todmorden, England.

The incident was one of an unfortunate series of railway accidents during 1984, coming only days after the fatal collision between an express passenger train and a train of fuel oil tankers at Eccles, Greater Manchester on 4 December. One day earlier on 3 December a train guard had been killed after a collision between a diesel multiple unit and parcels vans at Longsight also in Manchester. This third serious railway accident in the North West of England in less than 3 weeks led the Littleborough and Saddleworth MP Geoffrey Dickens to call for an inquiry into railway safety, in particular with respect to the conveyance of dangerous chemicals such as those involved in the accidents at Eccles and Summit Tunnel.

The train involved was the 01:40 freight train from Haverton Hill, Teesside to Glazebrook oil distribution terminal in Merseyside. It was formed by class 47 diesel locomotive 47 125 and 13 tankers.

At 05:50 on 20 December 1984, the train, carrying more than 1,000,000 litres (220,000 imp gal; 260,000 US gal) (835 tonnes or 822 long tons or 920 short tons) of four-star petrol in thirteen tankers, entered the tunnel on the Yorkshire (north) side travelling at 40 miles per hour (64 km/h).

One-third of the way through the tunnel, a defective axle bearing (journal bearing) derailed the fourth tanker, which caused the derailment of those behind. Only the locomotive and the first three tankers remained on the rails. One of the derailed tankers fell on its side and began to leak petrol into the tunnel. Vapour from the leaking petrol was probably ignited by the damaged axle box.

The three train crew members could see fire spreading through the ballast beneath the other track in the tunnel, so they left the train and ran the remaining mile to the south portal (where they knew there was a direct telephone connection to the signaller) to raise the alarm.

    So far so good…

Crews from Greater Manchester Fire Brigade and West Yorkshire Fire Brigade quickly attended the scene. Co-ordination between the brigades appears to have worked well, perhaps because they had both participated in an emergency exercise in the tunnel a month before.

A convenient drill just the month before…

The train crew were persuaded to return to the train, where they uncoupled the three tankers still on the rails and used the locomotive to drive them out.

Ehh, if the fourth tanker was derailed and deattached, there was nothing to uncouple.
But if it was not deattached, how the heck do they decouple it, with twisted steel at the connection?

However, at 9.40 a.m., the pressure in one of the heated tankers rose high enough to open its pressure relief valves. The vented vapour caught fire and blew flames onto the tunnel wall. The wall deflected the flames both ways along the tunnel, and the bricks in the tunnel wall began to spall and melt in the flames. The BA crews from both brigades decided to evacuate. They managed to leave just before the first explosion rocked the tunnel.

    Lucky!

But already now bricks melting? Was this an Auschwitz tunnel?

Left to itself, the fire burned as hot as it could. As the walls warmed up and the air temperature in the tunnel rose, all 10 tankers discharged petrol vapour from their pressure relief valves. Two tankers melted (at approximately 1,530 °C or 2,790 °F) and discharged their remaining loads as floods.

If the temperature is so hot in an open tunnel that tankers are melting, then they wouldn’t “discharge” the petrol as “floods”, it would burn immediately away.

    But it gets “explained”…

The fuel supply to the fire was so rich that some of the combustibles were unable to find oxygen inside the tunnel with which to burn; they were instead ejected from vent shafts 8 and 9 as superheated, fuel-rich gases that burst into flame the moment they encountered oxygen in the air outside. At the height of the fire, pillars of flame approximately 45 metres (148 ft) high rose from the shaft outlets on the hillside above.

Really? So we have an open tunnel from both sides and several ventilation shafts (for the old steam trains), but somehow there was not “enough oxygen”?

Any witnesses for this more-than-spectacular view of 45 metre high flames?

The gases are estimated to have flowed up these shafts at 50 metres per second (110 mph). Air at this speed is capable of blowing around fairly heavy items: hot projectiles made from tunnel lining (rather like lava bombs from a volcano) were cast out over the hillside. These set much of the vegetation on fire, and caused the closure of the A6033 road.

So who was on the road at that moment in the morning to witness this volcanic eruption never seen before?

In the cleanup operation afterwards, small globules of metal were found on the ground surrounding shaft 9; these had been melted from the tanker walls, swept up with the exhaust gases, and dropped out onto the grass around the top of the shaft.

    Right, tanker volcanoes near Manchester.

Unable to get close enough to safely fight the fire directly, the fire brigades forced high-expansion foam into ventilation shafts far from the fire. This created blockages that starved the fire of oxygen. By mid-afternoon the next day, the inferno was no longer burning, though the fire was by no means knocked down. Petrol continued to leak from the derailed wagons through the tunnel drainage and ballast and the vapour sporadically reignited when it came into contact with the hot tunnel lining.

So they closed off the tunnel entrances too? Or just the ventilation shafts far away? Then still there is fresh oxygen coming in.

It also became apparent that petrol vapour had leaked into the nearby River Roch, possibly creating explosive atmospheres in the nearby towns of Summit and Todmorden. Two hundred people were evacuated from their homes and workplaces in Walsden in response. They were allowed back home the next day.

The brigades continued to fight the fire for another two days, until West Yorkshire Fire Brigade issued the stop message just after 6:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Fire crews remained at the site until 7 January 1985.

Ah, luckily those brave fire fighters didn’t have to work on Christmas Eve. But the fire was not controlled, and the evacuated people led back to their houses… What if a huge Christmas bonfire would happen, not very responsible!

The damage done by the fire was minimal. Approximately half a mile of track had to be replaced, as did all the electrical services and signalling. The biggest surprise was how well the brick lining had stood up to the fire. Although some bricks in the tunnel and in the blast relief shafts had become so hot that they vitrified and ran like molten glass, most of the brickwork lining of the tunnel was scorched but still serviceable. One of the photographs taken in the aftermath shows a rail tanker directly beneath shaft 9: it is crowned with a mass of vitrified slag from bricks in the shaft that had melted and dripped down.

Typical schizo-wiki writing… The fire reached a whopping 1530 degrees C but actually nothing really happened. With “minimal damage”. 45 metre high volcanoes, but “surprise, surprise”, nothing to see here, move on folks…

The luck of those who fought it: the BR train crew who returned to the site to rescue a locomotive and three tankers left the fire site shortly before one of the other petrol tankers filled the tunnel with flames. The firefighters in BA sets who were in the tunnel when it filled with flames were saved because blast relief shafts 8 and 9 acted as flame vents (a function their designer never envisaged).

Ah yes, of course, you have 1 million litres of petrol in 10 tankers in a blazing inferno melting tankers in a tunnel, but two little vents solved the whole problem. We all know fires never spread horizontally…

The biggest tunnel fire of history, but with minimal damage.

    Suuuure.
