More space hoaxery - "Smart" telescopes - Seestar S50

Unread post by pasterno »

Buy now the world first smart telescope:

The Seestar S50
https://www.seestar.com

With this telescope, well actually it has a small fixed lens and a small light sensor only. (the magic is in the software)

It can make fake NASA "Hubble" pictures on your own device.

No more big telescope needed to watch the stars, just a tabletop small device, with very smart "algorithms".

It works via an app, and their servers. Fascinating....

Many amateur astronomers are very enthusiastic about it, now they can make "hubble" like pictures.

And for the price of 499 dollar you have 10.000 dollars of quality they say.
https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/4135 ... 50-images/

To me it shows how reality is being faked, slowly, algorithms, image processing.
It's as with the smartphone camera's, it's not the sensor anymore or the lens, it's the software a company showing you an image.

More and more what we see on the screens is going to be fake, a twisted form of reality that only vaguely resembles reality.
But the hyperreality of the images of the Seestar s50 are so nice, we will prefer it over an old fashioned telescope.
Why fool around for hours, to get a clear view.

That's just boring.

Just put on the Seestar S50 and all will be perfect and beautiful and NASA like within 30 minutes and it directs itself.

Don't people see they are being fooled? Do they want to? Doesn't anyone questions how a bad cheap lens and bad cheap sensor produces "amazing" quality pictures?

To me it's incomprehensible.

Fascinating video on a guy that makes these rainbow space images.

Without any shame he explains how he does it. And for those with photography knowledge. It shows you that it is fantasy and not reality.

He talks about hours of manipulation on a dark image with some white/grey dots to get to the magical end result.

Maybe deep down there is a drop of reality, but what we see is 99% manipulated.

Nowadays I feel sick of these things. I used to do quite some photography making "magical" shots. Deleting people. Changing colors. Different frame. Or dramatic black and white. Contrast. And it becomes just a fantasy. Fake.

It's also interesting that the speaking on diferent file formats.

VIP files.

Interesting to read:
https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3 ... 881/aa73d7

You can not just make an image with a normal camera, and change the exposure.

You need this special format:
Among the reference point-spread function subtraction techniques for ADI post-processing, VIP includes several flavors of principal component analysis (PCA) based algorithms, such as annular PCA and incremental PCA algorithms capable of processing big datacubes (of several gigabytes) on a computer with limited memory. Also, we present a novel ADI algorithm based on non-negative matrix factorization, which comes from the same family of low-rank matrix approximations as PCA and provides fairly similar results. We showcase the ADI capabilities of the VIP library using a deep sequence on HR 8799 taken with the LBTI/LMIRCam and its recently commissioned L-band vortex coronagraph
Magic. Algoritms. The SCIENCE. And black images with white dots turn into beautiful pictures.

What I think to see here is the sheeplike behavior of astonomers.

It' very similars to the doctors in Corona.

You would think "these people are specialists" they will think critically when the state sells them something. Did they really believe a new kind of vaccine was invented that stops the spread?

They have a desire to solve the problems. You give them some statistics / a science paper and they throw away all personal observation.

In that sense (amateur) astronomers are the same as doctor.

The astronomer loves the wonder of the universe, and when "the science" gives it to him he will take it.

Most doctors aims to cure people, and when the "the science" gives them a "cure" they will use it.

Many parallels.

I think all this astrophotography, is largely bunch of manipulated fakery.

What intrigues me is that man who produce it think they something good. Like the doctors. While in reality they are just working out the plan of their masters (worldy and spiritual masters)
