.

Is your "cause" the banning of all youtube videos here? Or just some?

I post videos from fakeotube, bitchute and vimeo also.
I assume that viewers can exercise discernment and critical judgement on their own.

Often I post a youtube video in order to evaluate the content, or criticize the video itself.

Do you feel this would be a "safe space" if I stopped posting all youtube videos?
Just what "cause" do you imagine is represented here?
We have this forum organized by topics.

Glenn: Feel free to post videos of your own choosing if you like.
And you can criticize or endorse them as you like.

It's called "free and open discourse".

August 1936
==============
Both Hitler and Mussolini had made TIME magazine's "Man of the Year cover.
Mussolini several times.
Both Mussolini's government and the Third Reich's prestige were high, due to their success in creating "full employment" economies and restoring societal order and political stability.

Between the German and British aristocracies, there were centuries of common family relationships.
In particular, the British royal dynasty was originally "Saxe-Coburg";
before the new family name "Windsor" (after the castle) was fabricated as a function of WW I psywar.

The Ribbentrops were one such family,

World War I - "All Quiet on the Western Front"

Unread post by SaiGirl »

This is about the literary and cinematic legacy of “the war to end all wars”: World War I.

The publication of Remarque’s “All Quiet on the Western Front” (and its subsequent movie spectacle) unleashed a storm of controversy and violence in Germany and Austria.

The “stab in the back” explanation for Germany’s defeat, and their humiliating submission to the Treaty of Versailles, was still fresh in 1929.

The Wall Street crash of that year, and subsequent catastrophic depression in Germany only intensified feelings of bitterness, rage and a surging demand for some kind of national salvation and redemption.

Goebbels and the NSDAP made the movie and the novel a major target of their electoral campaigns, demonstrations and SA ("brown shirts") street actions.

A more detailed examination of the several different cinematic treatments given Remarque's novel "All Quiet on the Western Front" in 1930, 1979 and 2022.

All are considered flawed; and fail to measure up to the power of the novel.

War movies based on important novels have always been difficult to transpose.
(e.g. "The Red Badge of Courage", "From Here to Eternity", "Catch-22", "Slaughterhouse-Five")

It's a harsh critical review.

The 1930 version would have been one of the earliest "talkies" presented to theater audiences that were only familiar with silent films.
An amazing experience for them to watch and hear.

I personally like the 1979 version best, because one of my favorite actors co-starred in it:
Ernest Borgnine. I also thought Richard Thomas' performance as the young soldier telling his story was quite reasonable and modestly understated. Generally a good film.

The 2022 version rated poorly with me. You might as well skip it.

The International Expositions and Exhibitions (Chicago World Fair 1893 anyone?) are THE podia to promote the technologies of the day.

IG Farben was and still is one of Germany's top petrochemical industry giants.

The 1937 International Exposition of Arts and Applied Science in Modern Life in Paris (Paris Exposition des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne) featured an enormous German exhibition hall on the banks of the Seine river with a giant eagle and swastika on top. Inside, visitors were treated to gorgeous displays of the latest advancements in German arts and applied science.

Jung on Hitler and the German Unconscious

Unread post by SaiGirl »

I’m posting this because I’d never seen it before.
Even after spending years studying Jung’s many works on archetypes, symbols, myth and the “collective unconscious”.
Somehow, I missed this one.
(F.Y.I. Jung was Swiss by birth. By the time he wrote this, he had long ago split with his original mentor (the Vienna Jew) Sigmund Freud.

Material conditions in Depression era Germany, should have been more than enough to motivate millions of Germans to opt for the National Socialist economic program.
Public disorder and social chaos were the environment in which the coalition led by the NSDAP won a majority in the 1933 elections to the Reichstag.

But by 1938, the social and economic (and military) rebirth of Germany under the Third Reich could not be denied.

Jung, however, always digs deeper for unconscious motives.

The Great "Sitzkrieg" - The "Phony War" (1939-40)

Unread post by SaiGirl »

Conventional explanation of the great “Phony War”

I have a very difficult time explaining this to myself.

I can only conjecture that BEHIND the scenes (like in a theater behind the stage sets) there were negotiations, arrangements (especially banking, finance and industrial) and PLANS scoped out for the remainder of the “War”.

This is something that requires serious logistical analysis.

=========
The Phony War, also known as the “Sitzkrieg” or “Drôle de guerre,” marked a curious and relatively quiet period at the onset of World War II. Beginning after the German invasion of Poland in September 1939, this phase extended until the Battle of France in May 1940. Despite the ominous backdrop of escalating tensions and mobilized forces, the Western Front experienced a lack of major military engagements during this time.

Both German and Japanese lightning, fast and sweeping victories in Europe and Asia, were perhaps decisively determined by superior air warfare technology.
Nobody had the quality of the Luftwaffe and Japanese Imperial Air Force.
Both navies were among the best in the world.
The Japanese had state of the art carriers and Mitsubishi planes.

Subsequent “Allied” victories may also have been determined by superior technology on the part of the US, British and Soviets. They ended up with superior tanks, radar and code decryption.

I say that the outcome of these performances is predetermined by the technological revolutions that span the period of “fighting”.
We should note that periods of large scale “war” give birth to revolutionary new technologies in everything from housing construction to medicine to more efficient us of energy.

Just consider the role of warfare in the development of penicillin, sonar / radar, general anesthesia, and food processing / preserving.

This was always said in school. I highly doubt it.

The only thing I can see is that in war time, the state has extreme budgets to push certain other "technologies".

As today the state sponsors "AI factories", large halls with Nvidia graphics cards, which will be obsolete in 3 years. It fun to watch guys going to old military bases on YouTube that have been deserted.

I think war is largely a scam to push greater state power. People accept inflation (high taxation) under threat.

I talked with my grandfather on WW2, he noticed nothing as a kid, life was normal, what wasn't normal were the stories, but for him it was no factual reality. Living in the war zone. They ate from the land. His father worked normally.

It's a lot like Corona, just a flu, but the narrative and the policy made it different.

SPoke a guy that went back to Ukraine a few weeks ago, he was scared, as a few times he heard air alarms. yep. scared of the alarms.

War is a vast lab pool for potential human experiment.

It's the ability to shift budget priorities instantly, without much "consultation" ("voting") and re-engineer whole sectors of an economy practically overnight.

Strong grew up in a poor family in a small town in Manitoba during the Great Depression, in which the poverty and hardships suffered by his family and most others made a deep and enduring impression on him. At an early age, he questioned the justness of a system in which people had so many needs but could not obtain the work that would enable them to meet those needs. When the family began to receive regular income for the first time after his father joined The Royal Canadian Air Force following the outbreak of World War II, he was struck by the irony that it took a war to produce the jobs and the resources that were not available during the depression.

Nothing unique or original in that.
It's one of the cornerstones of Mussolini's model for the "corporate state" of the future.

Marx himself frequently referred to the vast "armies of labor" that he saw in the future, for the building of great projects like dams, railroads, draining swamps and founding new cities.
As did the Fabians around Bernard Shaw, H.G. Welles and the Webbs.

The driving necessity of "war" radically alters all social and economic priorities.
And not just the pretense.

This global network, closely affiliated with both the UN and the WEF, is named in his honor:
It brings together mayors and other "grass roots" / local political figures together under one tent.
