Lucy's Lover in Pop Songs

Unread post by PotatoFieldsForever »

I'm making this post a bit too early, it's not totally clear in my mind but the process helps me put the pieces together.

I noticed recently that in a lot of pop songs, when they talk about love, you expect it to be about a man and a woman (or 2 humans more generally) and because of that expectation we can actually miss the message being conveyed.

There is a connection made between love/heart and freedom.

The way I see it, there are mainly 2 things that prevents us from reaching the heavens, the dome and "gravity", at least symbolically, two things put in place by God, "gravity", the G force could be seen as the God force, keeping us down here, that's why the wings are usually associated with freedom and the divine and can be found on angels or Hermes for instance. The trannies having butterfly tattoo makes sense from this perspective, the caterpillar crawls and after a transformation process, grows a pair of wings.

To summarize, freedom as in free dome of God.

Is it about the love of a fallen angel who rebelled against god? is it about the love of the embodiment of freedom? I don't know but it is love from a pure heart as we will see in example 6)

I will give you a few examples to illustrate this:

1) The Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway
LYRICS
Can you meet me halfway, right at the borderline
Is where I'm gonna wait, for you
I'll be looking out, night n' day
Took my heart to the limit, and this is where I stay
I can't go any further than this
I want you so bad it's my only wish
In the music video, she's lying on the ground but the way it is portrayed, you can see the stars behind her. Her heart is preventing her from going any further.

2) Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape
LYRICS
If I could escape
and recreate a place that's my own world
.
And I could be your favorite girl
Forever, perfectly together
And tell me, boy, now wouldn't that be sweet?
They spit it out here, she wants to escape her cage and become God of her world.

We can see that a dog (God) is holding the key of her cage.
GS1.png
I think it is not the same key in the second shot, it looks like a dragonfly, a winged insect, while in the first picture it looks like a cross.
GS2.png
She also says that she acted cold, something we will encounter again in the next examples.

3) Nelly Furtado - Say It Right
LYRICS
...
You don't mean anything at all to me
But you got what it takes to set me free

...
From my hands I could give you something that I made
From my mouth I could sing you another brick that I laid
From my body (from my body) I could show you (I could show you)
A place (a place) God knows (God only knows)
You should know, space is holy (Oh oh oh oh)
Do you really wanna go?
(Three, four)
She doesn't talk about love but we could infer that this is what she's talking about, she's also very cold.

4) Katy Perry - Dark Horse
LYRICS
make me your Aphrodite,
make me your one and only

mark my words,
this love will make you levitate.
like a bird,
like a bird without a cage,
but down to Earth,
if you choose to walk away.
She got her wings back, it looks like she is reaching for the sky and the man who helped her is turned into a dog (God?), she also turned away a dog at some point I wonder if there was any meaning.
KatyPerry.png
It is said that she wants to eat your heart, and she's also described as cold as a freezer.

5) Katy Perry - E.T.
LYRICS
Where in the world could my lover be?
...
You're so hypnotizing,
could you be the devil?
could you be an angel?
...
She came from the sky for the heart of a robot and made it alive, then they walked together into the light (into a new world ?).

Obviously, there are a lot of things happening in these clips, however, I can't spend too much time on it.

6) GALA - Freed from desire
LYRICS

My love has got no money, he's got his strong beliefs
My love has got no power, he's got his strong beliefs
My love has got no fame, he's got his strong beliefs
My love has got no money, he's got his strong beliefs

Want more and more, people just want more and more
Freedom and love, what he's looking for

Freed from desire, mind and senses purified
The lyrics of this light-hearted song are actually quite serious, the purity of the heart researched is on Buddha/Jesus level. The question is, who is her lover?

7) Kanye West - Heartless
LYRICS
In the night I hear 'em talk
The coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road
He lost his soul to a woman so heartless
In the music video, we can see a woman and the stars behind her, also she is depicted a lot bigger than Kanye West.
Heartless.png
It could be a wing but I'm not sure

8) Chris Brown - Fallen Angel
LYRICS

If I could, take a trip, to outer space
She would be the one, I would see
When I get, to heavens gate
She would welcome me with her arms, open wide, and a smile
Will shadow me brighter than the sun
She hasn't had a fair chance, so I'll give her one
Let me tell you who she is, yeah

She's a fallen angel, sent from heaven up above
She's a fallen angel, waiting for me to love her, yeah
(Know that she's) She's a fallen angel, take your judgment off her
I know, that she's a fallen angel

You know, I should
Help her mend, her broken wings
So she can fly again
But I don't
, wanna lose everything that I've gained
It's turning me a selfish man (oh)
'Cause without them my heart just don't go, no more (no more)
I couldn't take the pain, from watching her fly away
So say that you'll stay
She's mine...
It's as clear as it gets, there is a link between the wings and the heart.

9) Remy Zero - Save Me
LYRICS

I feel my wings have broken in your hands
feel the words unspoken inside
And, they pull you under
...
Somebody save me
Let your warm hands break right through it
Somebody save me
I don't care how you do it, just stay, stay
C'mon, I've been waiting for you
...
I see the world has folded in your heart
I feel the waves crash down inside
And, they pull me under
...
I made this whole world shine for you
...
I was not sure about including that song but the first and last line convinced me to do it and since it was used as the theme song for the show "Smallville" about the life of Superman, it made a lot of sense.

Superman is a fallen angel, he has superpower and he came from the sky
smallville1.png
I can't be clearer than this, they kindly put the wings behind his back.
smallville2.png
Superman is known to have one weakness "kryptonite", an emerald green stone, it happens that the girl he's in love with, Lana (don't read it backward), is wearing one.
smalville3.png
The color of the heart chakra is emerald green.

The way I understand it,
the number 1 represents God, unity
6 is the number of man, if we look at the shape of the number, it's a man with his head tower the ground.
9 is the opposite, he has his head toward the sky but it is below 10 (1+0=1) which also represents God.
11 is above ten but it is also two 1, two Gods.

So 9/11 could represent the desire of a religious man to become a God.

For the first song, "Meet Me Halfway", at the end, we see that Fergie is walking toward a cube (square 4 material) while the other guy is walking toward a pyramid (triangle 3 divine), it could represent the divine being descending to the material and the human ascending to the divine, they would meet halfway, also it could be two components of the same being soul + body rather than an external entity.

The dog in the "Sweet Escape" could also be Sirius rather than God, so to escape the cage, you would have to follow the light, as we are in the dark during our existence, life being one long night.

The idea remains the same though, our divine part being from the father, it has the potential to become like the father.

Anyway, I don't have a view clear enough to make this post but in the end, it's just masons putting their ideology in songs.
