Cinderella - 1997
(Disney live-action adaptation by Kay by Robert Iscove)
-
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, the groundbreaking television film adaptation of the iconic French fairy tale.

A color-blinding casting approach transformed the Robert Iscove-helmed movie into one of the most diverse fairy-tale adaptations in television history. The film’s ensemble, which featured Brandy as the first Black Cinderella and the late Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother, included Jason Alexander, Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters, Veanne Cox, Victor Garber, Paolo Montalban, and the late Natalie Desselle.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella became ABC’s most-watched Sunday night program in more than 10 years, garnering more than 60 million viewers on premiere night. The television film has since gone on to become one of the most beloved adaptations of Cinderella in popular media.

The most popular Disney classics clearly are prime targets for Hollywoods woke diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda. These fairy-tales and cartoons are among the most representative for white caucasian culture there is, so naturally such powerful stories makes good targets for breaking down and transforming into new vehicles to use in the new race and gender agenda Hollywood has set out to establish.

Clearly there was no "wokeness" or LGBTQ+ to speak of back in the late 1990s, but if you ever tried to ferment or culture your own yogurt or cheese you will know it takes time. And it all starts with minute amounts that over time spreads and becomes omnipresent throughout.

Cinderella - 2021
(Amazon Studios live-action adaptation by Kay Cannon)

Amazon is doing its best to push people to watch their new “woke” version of “Cinderella” starring singer Camila Cabello, but even critics really, really dislike the flick.

Notably, the movie has been hyped for its “feminist” angle and its not-so-subtle LGBT activism. Cabello’s character “puts her dreams before a man” and her fairy godmother is actually played by a male actor named Billy Porter. “Fabulous Godmother,” or “Fab G,” is “genderless,” identifying as neither male nor female.

The 1997 version of Cinderella and its race swapped main character might have been a one off coincidence, but Hollywood very much seems to insist on casting Cinderella ethnically different than the original, in this adaptation as Latina. And the LGBTQ+ agenda being more agressive, the godmother has become gender fluid...

Velma - 2023
(HBO Max animated TV series by Charlie Grandy)
-
When HBO Max announced a spin-off animated series based on of the Scooby-Doo characters, there was initially much excitement among fans hoping to see a new rendition of the popular character. However, it was soon apparent that's where the nostalgia would end. The new show, Velma, quickly sought to distance itself from any aspects of the original character that it considered dated.

Image

Billed as an origin story of the character, this has since become one of its biggest criticisms. The reason is that the original Velma character was a white American, whereas the new character has been race-swapped, and is now South Asian. Since the character is voiced by Mindy Kaling, who is of Indian descent, this evidently played a part in the decision to make such a sweeping change to the character's identity. This isn't inherently a problem, though it did perturb many. The problem is that the series is so in-your-face about its identity politics that its changes to the Scooby-Doo franchises feel like a willful distortion based on bad faith.

The changes didn't stop there though. Velma also differs from traditional tropes by being an R-rated series and also changing the races, sexualities, and identities of other famous Scooby-Doo characters too. In that regard, the characters Shaggy and Daphne are now Black and Asian respectively, while Velma's sexuality is also openly explored.

Woke corporation ratings

Unread post by dirtybenny »

This site was referenced on GLP to tell how "woke" a specific corporation is.

I find it far more interesting to review the 23 pages of corporate logos (sigils).

“So, basically you will only be allowed to enter based on the colour of your skin?” asked GWU! Arts & Entertainment reporter CJ Byner.
This is why they want an end to Capitalism. They can only get away with this because they can piss away tax money with no consequences.
