fakery in sports

Unread post by YouCanCallMeAl »

Prompted by watching the following clip, I think its worth creating a topic for fakery in sports.

https://streamin.me/v/2b0505d3

My description:
The corner kick taker and the keeper are in on this one. The corner kick taker tries to take the corner quickly to curl it straight in. Unfortunately it's not a great kick despite the keeper being in an inviting (pre-agreed?) position, so the keeper has to go the extra mile and flap the ball into the goal!

I remember the world cup final between France and Argentina 3 - 3, it felt like a script. Now, for smaller leagues it can be due to the money involved with betting. There is also the idea of people betting money and getting emotionally involved over scripted events, then, it wouldn't be different from the others hoax discussed here.

I don't watch enough sports to really have a definitive answer on this.

I agree about the world cup being scripted.

I previously wrote that up here:
