What is the myth about Mount Erebus?
Mt. Erebus – Antarctica - Atlas Obscura
It's a good name for the volcano. In Greek myth, Erebus was the son of the god Chaos, and his mother was Gaia or Earth. Erebus was made of darkness and shadow, and he filled the corners of the world with his darkness. Currently, the most active volcano in Antarctica and the southernmost active volcano on Earth,

A blog from someone allegedly at the South Pole station:
During 2022-2023, I deployed to Antarctica to work on IT projects. This was my first year on the ice.....
https://brr.fyi/about
.....
Is there Internet?
Yes, but it’s slow. Everything is over satellites, with limited bandwidth. I had web access, I could make outgoing phone calls, and of course there’s this silly blog.

Internet access at the South Pole is only available for part of the day, based on satellite visibility.

very interesting, napoleon. the majority of people at these antarctic stations are not scientists, when you step back and look crically, for all the alleged 'science' going on at the numerous, duplicated stations the costs surely don't stack up.
it's estimated that the annual cost of supporting one person at McMurdo Station can be in the range of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
https://www.quora.com/How-much-money-is ... do-Station

obviously a lot more at the alleged interior stations - Scott [s.pole] vostok and concordia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concordia_Station
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vostok_Station

are they all doing the same 'science'? surely it's all the same stars and galaxies the see?

Most of the online videos show the cast of residents [thousands of $$$ per annum] having fun, working out, eating ir watching penguins.
these vids from the "south pole" are more interesting, discussing the alleged communication systems involving military satellites [hmmmm] and an
interview with the head of 'science' at Scott-Amundsen

how living at the south pole works [2021]

Meet Sasha, the Lead Scientist at the South Pole Station! [2022]

NASA, the ISS, space, antarctica, [admiral] birds of a feather,,,
of course you allegedly can't do anything else in antarctica apart from 'science' - there must be so many different experiments to perform by 'scientists' from so many different countries, I hope they're not duplicating anything at 'thousands of $$ per person per year,...

That xfiles is clueless I calculate in, but Ab you should be smarter.
This """article""" assumes many things, starting with the fact that there is even an Antarctica.

The scramble for Antarctica’s black gold: How Russian discovery of huge oil reserves in UK territory has made Falkland Islands the ‘world’s most valuable real estate’… with Putin and Xi eyeing treasure under frozen seas

of course Antarctica exists, you can visit it. And if you're brave you sail there yourself.

A former colleague of mine has done fieldwork on Antarctica. I shared the map he coproduced many times and I have personally seen the photos he took there.

and then taking this total nonsensical Daily Fail image:

Image

No, Russia did NOT "find oil", because in order to make such claim you have to drill wells and that is VERBOTEN in Antarctica. At maximum they could have shot seismic (which I believe is also illegal under the Antarctic Treaty) and then make interpretations and estimates and models, but that is NEVER the same as "finding oil" and not precise either.

the legend with this map speaks of "in billions of barrels" and then on top of that lists more billions.

It is impossible to estimate oil reserves based on no data, so this "500 billion barrels" is a figure just pulled out of Putin's pothole...

The absolute max that could have happened is that this "polar explorer ship" has observed oil slicks coming from the seabottom. But that
1) is only evidence of an active petroleum system, does not say anything about the size of the possible fields
2) can also be evidence of a failing, not sealing enough, petroleum system, as was the case in one of my study areas with lots of oil slicks

You make yourself look SO silly with this Hans Wormhole nonsense of suggesting that a place "does not exist" while you and me CAN EVEN VISIT it. And then pushing some Daily Fail total nonsense as indicative of anything....

If "Fakeology" has nosedived to these levels, I will not wear that moniker ever again.

I am here for serious and insightful research, not this nonsense...
