From 1968: Cover for the third album by Frank Zappa and “The Mothers of Invention”
We have several long time experts on popular music history, who may have some brief but substantive observations to make about this album cover, relative to the cover of the earlier Beatle’s “Sgt. Pepper” album.
At the time of its release, we regarded this as a mockery, parody and scathing critique of the Beatles and their history of crass commercialism / exploitation.
