LUNEBURG, West Germany, Jan. 28 (AP)—Erhard Milch, a protege of Hermann Goering, Adolf Hitler's close aide, and the organizer of the Luftwaffe in World War II, died here Tuesday at the age of 79.
Disowned his Jewish Father.
Although he was of Jewish origin, Milcn rose rapidly in the Nazi hierarchy, through Goering's intervention, to become a field marshal and Air Force Chief of Staff.
Goering, who liked Milch and wanted him as deputy chief of the Air Force, had to overcome one factor. Milch's father was a Jew. Goering had Mulch declared a full Aryan by having Milch's mother produce a statement ‘saying that he wasn't his father's son at all.
Milch, ever grateful, always did Goering's bidding, even appearing in 1946 at the Nuremberg War Crime trials in his defense.
