The Cult of Gaia

Unread post by rachel »

I've been reading some interesting stuff about the UN, Climate Change, and the Cult of Gaia, so I thought I'd copy the stuff I put up on discord here as some of it is WayBack, and I love that particular medium for research.

The best answer to all those who downplay the significance of the pagan rites in honor of the Pachamama, is given by an absolutely indisputable personality since she was the main protagonist. Indeed, the same day (October 4), Ednamar de Oliveira Viana, woman of indigenous origin who led the ceremony in the Vatican gardens, published a press release to explain the meaning, as revealed by Diane Montagna on the LifeSiteNews website on November 8th.

Here is the full text of the press release: “To plant is to have hope. It is believing in a growing and fruitful life to satisfy the hunger of Mother Earth's creation. This brings us to our origin by reconnecting divine energy and teaching us the way back to the Creator Father.

The Synod is to plant this tree, water and cultivate, so that the Amazonian peoples are heard and respected in their customs and traditions experiencing the mystery of the divinity present in the Amazonian soil.

Planting in the Vatican Garden is a symbol that invites the Church to be even more committed to the forest peoples and all of humanity. But also, it is the denunciation of those who destroy our common house by greed in search of their own profit.”

Diane Montagna recalls here that Saint Boniface, the apostle of Germany, felled Donar’s oak which the Germans regarded as the sacred tree of Thor. And she makes a wish: “At present the Amazonian sacred tree is safely guarded within the precincts of the Vatican gardens until a new St. Boniface should arise.”

As Jeanne Smits pointed out on her blog, on November 9: “This idea [in the press release] of the ‘hunger’ of Mother Earth is precisely the basis of the Pachamama rituals: that which generates and nourishes, but which punishes with earthquakes those who take too much resources. Thus it is a question of satisfying its hunger and its thirst during a ceremony which takes place by presenting to it offerings taken on what it gave, in a cover placed on the ground, or by digging a hole in which they throw sacrificial objects or animals—a llama fetus being the object of choice.”

Pachamama is an entity, the Earth, but also a spirit with a conscience and a power; a ‘divinity’” [‘present in Amazonian soil’] as it was also called in the press release by Ednamar de Oliveira Viana, whose anger must be appeased. This was done in the past, especially in Inca times, through the sacrifices of children and adolescents.

“The language of the press release is clearly pagan and syncretistic. It shows the reason for prostrations before the planted tree, surrounded by soil brought back from the Amazon: it is soil, land to which we attribute a ‘divine’ identity.”

But perhaps we still need a testimony totally outside the Synod, to get a few ostrich heads out of the sand? Here is one from a Swiss shaman, Laurent Huguelit, founder of the Outre-Monde center for shamanic practice and author of a book entitled  Mère : l’enseignement spirituel de la forêt amazonienne  (Mother: The Spiritual Teaching of the Amazon Rainforest), published in September 2019 by Mama editions, in Paris.

It introduces itself like this, on the 4th cover page: “It was during a stay in the Amazon that the author was designated spokesperson (sic) of the great forest by the spirit of the mother of all mothers in person. In accordance with the spiritual contract which is linked within this plant matrix, Laurent Huguelit put on paper the words, the visions, the impressions, and the anecdotes that the forest asked him to express.”

And to manifest the object of his belief: “It is a teaching given by nature which is delivered to us with sincerity in these pages, a pilgrimage to the heart of the great family of the living. We come across, in turn, the ancestral tree, the clarity of consciousness, compassion, shamans, and their songs of healing—but also, because everything must be known, the agony of darkness. With Mother, the intention of the forest is to re-establish the sacred bond which links humanity to planet Earth, so that a new consciousness can emerge—and so that the children of the forest encounter the one who saw them being born and grow. So that they respect it, preserve it, and love it.”—It is particularly instructive to consider, in the light of this shamanism with a European face, the desire expressed by the Synod for a “Church with an Amazonian face.”

UN IPCC Official Admits 'We Redistribute World's Wealth By Climate Policy'

Climate Change... Reality, a redistribution of wealth.png

Now something new happens: it is no longer just our luxury, our environment. Developing countries have realized that causes of climate change lie in the north and the consequences in the south. And in developed countries, we have realized that for a climate protection target of two degrees neither purely technical solutions nor life style change will be sufficient. The people here in Europe have the grotesque idea that shopping in the bio food store or electric cars will solve the problem. This is arrogant because the ecological footprint of our lifestyle has increased in the last 30 years, despite the eco-movement.

You say that for successful climate policy a high degree of international cooperation is necessary. However this cooperation is not present.

I share the scepticism. But do we have an alternative? Currently, there are three ideas how to avoid the difficult cooperation: We try unsafe experiments such as geo-engineering, focus on the development of clean and safe energy, or one trusts in regional and local solutions. However, there is no indication that any of these ideas solves the problem. We must want the cooperation, just as you work together for the regulation of financial markets.

But unlike the financial crisis, in climate policy a country benefits if it does not join in.

The financial crisis was an emergency operation - in the face of danger we behave more cooperatively. Such a thing will not happen in climate policy, because it will always remain questionable whether a specific event like a flood is a climate phenomenon. But there is always the risk that individual rationality leads to collective stupidity. Therefore, one cannot solve the climate problem alone, but it has to be linked to other problems. There must be penalties and incentives: global CO 2-tariffs and technology transfer.

So the previous article was from November 2010, and the war on carbon has made, it's interesting it mentions,
Because we have 11,000 gigatons of carbon in the coal reserves in the soil under our feet - and we must emit only 400 gigatons in the atmosphere if we want to keep the 2-degree target. 11 000 to 400 - there is no getting around the fact that most of the fossil reserves must remain in the soil.
Yet,

Al Gore, The United Nations, and The Cult of Gaia (1999)
At the United Nations, the U.N. Environmental Program, founded by Maurice Strong, promotes the idea of an "Environmental Sabbath," a variation of the Gaia concept. Strong, now the Executive Coordinator for United Nations Reform under Secretary-General Kofi Annan, has described the global environmental movement in terms suggesting a religious crusade. One of Strong's organizations, the Earth Council, has produced an "Earth Charter" for the world that refers to respect for "Mother Earth" and animal rights.

As Turner's involvement suggests, this Cult of Gaia has a definite anti-Christian orientation. Traditional Christianity is regarded by this movement as anti-environmental because God is viewed as being apart from the Earth itself.

Those promoting the Gaia concept have no qualms about using the full force of government, even the international resources of the United Nations, to impose their beliefs on the rest of us. If they are successful in their drive for "sustainable development" to protect Gaia, they could stifle economic growth and promote a drastic decline in the American standard of living.
The mention of an Environmental Sabbath is interesting, because one of the fundamental beliefs of the Seventh Day Adventist church states the anti-Christ, via the Papal Office, will enforce a worldwide Sunday Sabbath as the mark of their authority.

Lecture by Walter Veith regarding Sabbath worship and its history:
975 The Meaning of Rest, Darkness Before Dawn

And some reading about the origins of Sun Worship, and how it became integrated into the Christian church:
Sun (Baal) Worship is the Origin of Papal Office
The practice of kissing an idol or statue was borrowed from sun worship. As we have seen, Baal worship was linked with the ancient worship of Nimrod in deified form (as the sun-god). In the days of Elijah, multitudes had bowed to Baal and kissed him. “Yet,” God said, “I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him” (1 Kings 19:18). In one of his “mystery” forms. Nimrod (incarnated in the young Tammuz) was represented as a calf. Statues of calves were made, worshiped, and kissed! “They sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say to them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves” (Hosea 13: 1–3). Kissing an idol was a part of Baal worship!

Not only was the practice of kissing an idol adopted by the Roman Catholic church, so was the custom of religious processions in which idols were carried. Such processions are a common part of Roman Catholic practice, yet these did not originate with Christianity. In the fifteenth century B.C., an image of the Babylonian goddess Ishtar was carried with great pomp and ceremony from Babylon to Egypt. Idol processions were practiced tn Greece, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mexico, and many other countries in olden times.

The Bible shows the folly of those who think good can come from idols-idols so powerless they must be carried! Isaiah, in direct reference to the gods of Babylon, had this to say: “They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down yea, they worship. They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him” (Isaiah 46:6,7).
Which links us back to the first post about "Pachamama, Goddess of Eco-globalism?"

So returning to Gore and the Gaia cult:
Gore was a participant in and Strong was the secretary-general of the 1992 U.N. Conference on Environment and Development, otherwise known as the "Earth Summit," which produced an international document, Agenda 21, calling for "sustainable development." The conference also resulted in creation of a U.N. Commission on Sustainable Development and, in the U.S., a President's Commission on Sustainable Development.

The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), established in 1972, commissioned a major collection of articles entitled Ethics & Agenda 21, treating the issue of respect for the environment as a moral and religious concern. One article, "A Theological/Ethical Response to Agenda 21," was written by Sallie McFague, who has lectured on "A Christian Ecological View of Human Beings." Her article called for rejecting the Western model of the Earth in favor of the "ancient organic model" which "can serve to incite the needed change in perspective." She explained:

The organic model, which is found in cultures and religions in Native American traditions, Goddess religions, and even in Christianity's incarnationism, portrays Earth as a body.
Remember, "the Western model" is code for the freedoms that came from the Protestant Reformation and the interpretation of law through the Bible.
The official "mission" of the Church of All Worlds, the largest of the pagan movements in the U.S., involves mobilizing the force of Gaia or Gaea. The mission is "to evolve a network of information, mythology and experience that provides a context and stimulus for reawakening Gaea, and reuniting her children through tribal community dedicated to responsible stewardship and evolving consciousness." The church has what are called "nests" or "proto-nests" of members in the U.S. and other countries.

Its magazine, Green Egg, publishes articles such as "Altars & Ecology," in which readers are advised how to "worship the Earth as the Mother God, Gaia, and profess Her sacred nature..." One altar to Gaia, described in the article, included a recycling bin. Another article, "Sacred Rodents," insists that some of the dirtiest creatures known to man, rats, which are notorious disease-carriers, somehow have sacred qualities. The article states, "In light of their long and fascinating history, unknown even to most Pagans, mice and rats certainly deserve more respect and recognition for the magical and sacred creatures they are."

Despite its bizarre roots, the Gaia concept is being promoted in various academic disciplines as a way to justify massive changes in the American economic system and the American way of life. Anchor/Doubleday book publishers has released "The Gaia Future Series," whose books include The Gaia Atlas of Green Economics. The book, which includes a foreword written by Robert Heilbroner, a former Vice President of the American Economic Association, recommends international monetary reform, such as a global tax or world currency, and says that the United Nations "is potentially the lynchpin [sic] in the new world order that must evolve."
