The Ten Commandments are common sense to Europeans: They are not not meant for us: we already do them.
They are written for Jews converting from Judaism to Christianity.
All ten were sins routinely committed by Jews against Gentiles, not Gentiles against Gentiles or Gentiles against Jews.

Think of them as conditions of parole.
