Duran Duran: Planet Earth (1981)

Unread post by Cognitive Dissident »

The lead singer, Simon le Bon, has allegedly been photographed with Gislaine Maxwell; Qanoners believe that he is an Adrenocrome addict.

Truly great pop though, and an Adam's apple, to boot:

None of them have aged nary a decade:

Hungry like the Wolf can have many meanings...

I doubt any of the "band" members know... another example of songwriters not knowing what a song they supposedly wrote is about.

1. Duran Duran wrote "Hungry Like the Wolf" in something of a flash.
"'Hungry Like The Wolf' was a very easy song to write," bassist John Taylor told Complex. "That whole album--we didn't have to try too hard. We didn't have to try at all, actually. There's a time, when you are lucky enough, when your talent will sort of intersect perfectly with what's going on. You are just perfectly poised to sort of express the moment. We were definitely in that place on Rio. That song came about on a Saturday afternoon. I think Nick [Rhodes] kind of had a [keyboard] sequence in line and Andy [Taylor] had a [guitar] riff and [lead singer] Simon [Le Bon] had a phrase. And I came in and I started playing bass. [Drummer] Roger [Taylor] came in. The song was written in an afternoon."

2. There are varying opinions on what the song is about.
Singer Simon Le Bon has famously said that the lyrics were inspired by the children's tale, "Little Red Riding Hood." John Taylor is not so sure: "And what's the song lyrically about? I don't really know," he pondered. "What do you think it's about? Simon likes animal metaphors. I think it was kind of like... To me, it was like wanting to have sex with someone."

The supposed songwriters (channellers) are unclear what the song they wrote is about.

Darken the city, night is a wire
Steam in the subway, earth is a afire
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo
Woman, you want me, give me a sign
And catch my breathing even closer behind
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo
In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Smell like I sound, I'm lost in a crowd
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Straddle the line in discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Mouth is alive, with juices like wine
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Stalked in the forest, too close to hide
I'll be upon you by the moonlight side
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo
High blood drumming on your skin, it's so tight
You feel my heat, I'm just a moment behind
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo
In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
A scent and a sound, I'm lost and I'm found
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Strut on a line, it's discord and rhyme
I howl and I whine, I'm after you
Mouth is alive, all running inside
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Burning the ground, I break from the crowd
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
I smell like I sound, I'm lost and I'm found
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Strut on a line, it's discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
Mouth is alive, with juices like wine
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Burning the ground, I break from the crowd
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
Scent and a sound, I'm lost and I'm found
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Strut on a line, it's discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
Mouth is alive all running inside

The most excellent bassist, John Taylor, looks awfully like David Beckham, don't you think?

I was pilloried as a pre- and post- teen by my brothers for loving Duran Duran; and here we are: one brother murdered last year by the NHS - oncology and virology - and the other, on his way, if he carries on taking their needles.

Laughably, I'm the drug addict in the family (Es, whizz, weed).

The rave scene. Look it up.

Still here though, doing press ups and power walks! :D

While we're at it: Andy Taylor looks curiously like that drunk from The Rolling Stones:
