A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to 45 days in jail and is banned from riding the subway for 18 months after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a TTC transit ambassador.
The incident occurred on Aug. 4 at about 3:30 p.m. when the accused approached the female employee and asked for help.
He then slid his hand in the victim’s right pocket and groped her buttocks, the TTC said in a news release. The man fled and the ambassador reported the sexual assault.
Transit Enforcement Officers were dispatched to the scene and found the man at Dundas Station. He was later arrested by police and charged with sexual assault.
Arshad Sajid entered a guilty plea to the charge on Aug. 20, the TTC said. He was also fined $200 and has been ordered to pay $250 restitution to the victim.
“On average, one TTC employee is assaulted every day, ranging from punching, slapping and spitting, to threats of physical harm or death,” the TTC said.
