Get your shots Syria

The lying and numbers are everywhere, even in health stories by WHO. No, I’m not searching every story for the numbers. They’re following me!

Polio that has crippled at least 13 children in Syria has been confirmed as being caused by a strain of the virus that originated in Pakistan and is spreading across the Middle East, the World Health Organization said.

Genetic sequencing shows the strain found in Syrian children in Deir al-Zor, where an outbreak was detected last month, is linked to the strain of Pakistani origin found in sewage in Egypt, Israel and Palestinian territories in the past year.

Genetic sequencing indicates that the isolated viruses are most closely linked to virus detected in environmental samples in Egypt in December 2012 (which in turn had been linked to wild poliovirus circulating in Pakistan),” the United Nations agency said in a statement on Monday.

Closely-related strains of the wild poliovirus of Pakistani origin have also been detected in sewage samples in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip since February 2013, it said.

Polio virus has been confirmed in 13 of 22 children who became paralyzed in the northern Syrian province of Deir al-Zor. Investigations continue into the other 9 cases. It is Syria’s first polio outbreak since 1999.

OBF discredits Fetzer

OBF does a great job removing a leg from the 3 legged logic stool that Fetzer bases his whole professor routine on. I don’t listen to Fetzer as much anymore, as he sells fear in another package. If I do listen, I try and find new voices to see how close they come to our way of thinking about 9/11 and JFK. Most don’t get close at all, but some get near.

This has to be about the most outrageous, egregious “in your face” denial of the scientific methodology that you are ever likely to encounter.  And this, ironically, from a person claiming both an education in the philosophy of science, and of having “taught logic, critical thinking and scientific reasoning for 35 years”,  to boot! :-

Storytelling

If stories were not the decisive factor in human behavior, then there wouldn’t be a need for media control, nor for religious control – which have been the earlier storytellers.

When it comes to stories, or myths in this case, it is not the factuality that matters but the purpose. When truth is unachievable, we will enter a story that will provide a cushion of safety against a seemingly always lingering threat.

That’s the true challenge of fakeology – as it is not a mere matter of checking if media events are staged (if the “priests” are telling the truth), it is a matter of slicing reality to eliminate as many untruths as possible. That destroys the cushion-stories. What then? What lies beyond when we have discovered everything truth is not?
